To conclude what’s become known around the office as ‘Medellín Week’, we’ve decided to round up our trip with something of a photo essay about our time at Medellín‘s Fería de Las Flores 2011.
We don’t have photos of some of the awesome concerts that took place earlier in the week (including a free ChocQuibTown gig), but we do have some photos from the classic car parade that swept through the city on the final Saturday of the Fería. I’m not a car man, but it really was a great experience seeing some of these cars in action, and imagining Grandad Fowler driving around the hills of Sheffield in one…
Having enjoyed the classic car parade the team went our separate ways, did our things (a spot of Colombian salsa dancing for me) and arranged to meet the following day for the grand finale of the Fería de Las Flores: the silleteros.
What is a silletero? Well I’m glad you asked. We explain more here.
So, sat comfortably among some bubbly Colombians, we watched the procession of silleteros pass us by, punctuated by floats with dancers, musicians, children shouting and people throwing bananas. Spirits were high among everyone and it made for a brilliant day in the beautiful Medellín sun.
