Colombia very often defies expectations. In fact, it’s been said that it’s a land of constant surprise. One expectation of Colombia, however, that is thankfully met, is the image of the country as a tropical paradise. Sure, you won’t be soaked in sun if you travel to Bogota, but nonetheless you can head to the coastal regions of Colombia and enjoy the kind of desert-island haven you’ve always dreamed of.
The most popular of these places is Tayrona National Park, found on Colombia’s Caribbean coast near Santa Marta. A stunning sprawl of beaches, palm trees, heaving seas and jungle-clad mountains, the park is a traveller’s dream. But don’t just take it from us, check out this video from Off2Colombia:
Recently, as our friends over at ColombiaReports.com, uh, reported, there were efforts to build a 7-Star hotel within the limits of the park. Thankfully it was rejected, and we at Colombia Travel Blog are very pleased since we promote ecologically aware tourism, and want to see tourism in Colombia develop in a sustainable, green way.
