We’ve gone relatively Amor y Amistad crazy this week, bringing you a romantic playlist, a place to buy flowers in Bogotá and generally mentioning it whenever we get the chance.
Well, today is no different, because we’re going to bring you 5 great picks for restaurants in Bogotá that will help you, our dear reader, romance the socks off your partner.
Bon appetit, mon frere.
La Despensa de Rafael

Rafael is one of the most famous chefs in the world. In Bogotá he has two restaurants, with this being the more casual and cheaper of the two. It has a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful decoration and a delectable selection of cuisine to choose from. Best of all, it won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

La Mar

Peruvian cuisine is some of the best in the world [edit: the best in the world – JL], and there are a large number of Peruvian restaurants to be found in Bogotá. La Mar is one of the most famous, and certainly one of the best. Above all, it is located in the romantic village-within-a-city of Usaquen, so you can take your pick from places to go drinking afterwards.
Calle 119B # 6-01
Di Lucca

Simple, delicious Italian cuisine in relaxed surroundings. Di Lucca is some of the best pizza in the city, and best of all it’s relatively cheap. Nothing says ‘I love you’ like delicious, affordable pizza in a great restaurant.

Julia

Located in the ‘Gourmet Zone’ of Bogotá (Zona G), Julia is one of the best famous restaurants in the city and a must visit for lovers of Italian cuisine. Tucked away next to a Spanish restaurant, it can be easy to miss the doorway to this narrow restaurant… That would be a mistake, so keep your eyes peeled!
Carrera 5 # 69 A -19
Tapas Macarena

This restaurant carries the distinction of being voted number one on TripAdvisor in Bogotá. Quite an accomplishment, but noone would say it’s undeserved. Tapas Macarena is as close as you’ll come to Madrid without leaving Bogotá. Delicious.

Was at the Italian restaurant Julia tonight and frankly, we were not too impressed. Yes, of course, the decor was really nice and the pizza Margarita + Funghi (at almost 29 000 pesos !!!!) was good… but the waitresses weren’t that friendly and prices were slightly expensinsive. I also found that there were not a wild choice to go nuts over…

We’re sorry to hear that! Paul tells us that it used to be very good when he was there at the time of writing the post. Thanks for your feedback, we’d surely go back and update the review according to our experience. Abrazo!
