Depending on how you look at it, COP$1,000 can go a very long way… Or barely get you anything at all. As Marina A. Assaedi points out, it won’t get you even a bus ride in Colombia, and, yet, it can buy you 3 cups of coffee if you know where to look.

With this strange fixture of Colombian economics in mind, we thought we’d put it to Twitter and Facebook to find out just what can you buy with $1,000COL?

How about a post on advice for what banks to use? 🙂 For those of us moving there with student loans back in the states, this info would be super helpful! 🙂 Thanks!

Already got you covered ,) https://seecolombia.travel/blog/2011/09/problem-with-credit-cards-in-colombia-a-guide-to-using-credit-cards-abroad-here-in-colombia/
As for student loans in the States, you’d be better off consulting the student loan company to find out their requirements.
Anyway, for a Colombian bank I recommend Helm or Davivienda to open an account.
Hope this is helpful!

You can buy a bag of freshly cooked potato chips or platano chips on the street. Yum!
Oh, and it’s $1000COP, not COL… : )
