If you read regularly you’ll already know that the Colombia Travel Blog team are here in Medellín, all set for the Feria de Las Flores and getting caught up in the excitement of the FIFA U20s World Cup currently being held here in Colombia.
With all these things to do there’s a lot to write about but, I figure, what could be more useful than to write about Medellín accommodation? Specifically, The Wandering Paisa Hostel, where I’m staying.

I first heard about The Wandering Paisa Hostel when I was in Bogotá. I met one of the owners, Miles, and he told me he’d recently opened a new hostel in Medellín where they aimed to show travellers another side of the city. I could understand; hostels in Medellín are generally good but they are all more or less located in the same area, near Parque Lleras. While this can be great if all you’re after is the same thing every day, the great thing about The Wandering Paisa Hostel is that you’re in an area most travellers don’t get to see – the lively and traditional Carrera 70.
Aside from location benefits you’ll also find the hostel to be extremely accommodating with excellent service and bilingual staff. Either Brent or Miles (the owners, two brothers from the US) will be available to help you throughout the day and night should you need advice about the area, about Medellín, or about things to do.

Rooms are clean, spacious and the hostel benefits from a calm, relaxed ambience that encourages guests to socialise but, if you’re not one for going crazy at night, you won’t be troubled by the usual noise you might have become accustomed to on the hostel circuit. There’s plenty of activities offered, including salsa and Spanish lessons on-site.
If you’re looking for a hostel in Medellín, we’re happy to recommend you The Wandering Paisa Hostel.

Hey Paul, I’m a fellow Brit who just under a year ago opened the Purple Monkey Hostel in Poblado. In that time we have developed a great reputation in that time with travellers, who rate us on Hostelworld as the first or second best hostel in the city. It would be great if you could feature us on your website! Our website is http://www.purplemonkeyhostel.com Let me know if you want to swing by for a beer and I can show you around! Thanks!!!
