Get your digitus secundus manus and your digitus mínimus manus ready and throw your horns in the sky because this weekend Rock Al Parque comes to Bogotá, Colombia.

Rock Al Parque is an annual music festival held in Bogotá that features some of the best local and international talent around at the moment. It’s being running for 16 years, attracting names such as Asian Dub Foundation, Fito Páez, Bloc Party, Coheed and Cambria, Fear Factory and many more. This year’s Rock Al Parque takes place from the 1st of July until the 4th of July at Simon Bolivar Park.
This year audiences can look forward to seeing Colombian favorites ChocQuibTown and Bomba Estereo, two bands that are generating a lot of hype on the international stage. In addition, Dead Kennedys, Fischerspooner, BLK JKS and Cold Cave are all bringing the party to Bogotá from their respective nations. As you can see from this brief list of bands, the ‘Rock’ in the festival’s title doesn’t limit the genres of bands that play (although Friday is mostly thrash metal, be warned).

Events in Bogotá and festivals in Bogotá are common (we’ve written about EuroCine Festival and the Blues & Jazz Festival before), but this is the largest free music festival in South America and therefore attracts people from all over the continent. It promises to be a huge event and an unforgettable weekend in Colombia’s capital city.
