Colombia Travel Blogs: Spreading the good word.

As Colombian vacations become increasingly popular and the expat community here grows and grows, so too does the online presence of Colombia in the form of blogs, photo journals, Twitter accounts and even vlogs.

We here at Travel and Living want to spread the good word about Colombia, and we’re thrilled when we find other people that do, too. Plus, we know our readers will appreciate receiving more than just our perspective, and so with this in mind, we’ve collected 5 of our favourite blogs (in no particular order) about Colombia that we’ve found floating around on the internet. Enjoy, but don’t forget us!

Colombia Travel Blog

Colombia Travel Blog by Marcela

Marcela Mariscal is a Colombian that lived in the UK for 10 years. As such, she’s a well-informed traveler and is responsive to the needs and questions of people traveling to Colombia. She aims to put out a fair opinion on life and travel here, including recommendations and information. She’s very responsive to interaction and at all times her passion for the country seeps through. It’s pretty hard not to fall in love with Colombia vicariously when reading her blog, so we love it.

Afowen.com

Alex Owen is a Welsh entrepreneur who has been living in Colombia for over a year. His blog collects his experiences as a traveler (which are always informative and insightful and often funny) as well as his knowledge of Colombia. There’s a useful ‘What to do in Bogotá’ section, full of recommendations for restaurants and bars, as well as a wealth of information about the nightlife (and about beer in Colombia!). Be sure to check it out.

The Tall Gringo

The Tall Gringo is an English teacher from the US with a vision to make a difference here in Colombia by attempting to give children in vulnerable areas a basis in the English language. His blog is full of information about all aspects of Colombian life, including areas where Colombia needs help developing. You’ll find recommendations of where to go and good, honest reflections of the varied life of a teacher trying to make a change here in Colombia.

Little Colombia Observationist

The Little Colombia Observationist features many nice little tidbits about Colombia – short stories, anecdotes, advice and more. Our favourite thing though is the beautiful pictures featured on this blog. They look at Colombia close up, not just the (admittedly stunning) landscapes, but at the wildlife and fauna, at the buildings… Go and check it out for yourself, you won’t regret it.

This Is Colombia

This Is Colombia explain in their opening blurb that they aim to challenge stereotypes about Colombia and to present a balanced and fair representation of the country. It’s a fair description of a blog that’s full of useful information about everything from partying in Colombia to art-house cinema in the country to building a house. Well worth a visit for a little bit of extra information about our beloved Colombia.
