Why You Should Move to Colombia. Now.

It seems that every day now I get an email from someone wondering about what it’s like to live in Colombia. I even had several people ask me when I went back to the UK recently.

And they weren’t just casually inquiring. These are all people that are genuinely interested in moving to Colombia.

This, of course, wasn’t really on the cards even just 5 years ago. Sure, brave travellers and smitten lovers braved going against the ubiquitous government warnings and moved to Colombia, but it certainly wasn’t on the radar as an expat paradise. All signs suggest that this is changing. Fast.

So why are people so drawn to coming here? Why is it that us expats are so passionate about recommending our adopted home to fellow foreigners? Just why should you move to Colombia? Check out our gallery to find out…

There are few nations on this earth that are home to quite so many friendly people. Within 5 minutes of meeting someone you’ll likely have an invitation to a finca and, potentially, a friend for life.

There’s nothing better than a night in Colombia, rubbing shoulders with the locals, sinking Aguardiente and throwing some shapes on the dancefloor.

Family is important in Colombia and, best of all, as a guest in the country you’ll almost always be treated as family.

There are still places surrounding Bogotá that I haven’t managed to go to, such are the incredible array of options for travel in Colombia. Much of it hasn’t yet been touched, so you can be a pioneer.

Fine, it may rain a lot in Bogotá, but in places like Medellín you’ll find some of the best year-round weather on earth. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. You’ll feel like Goldilocks if she preferred blue skies to soup.

Colombia boasts an incredible culture, full of music, joy and passion. And the occassional oddity. Colombia’s unique culture is something that is guarded fiercely, and rightly so. So grab a sombrero vueltiao and join in the fun!
