According to Bloomberg, Colombia is one of the best countries to visit in 2017. In their recent article entitled ‘Where to Go in 2017’ the company included Colombia, along with other up-and-coming destinations such as Iran and Myanmar. This is another boost for Colombia’s global tourism profile, which has seen a number of high-profile endorsements over the past few weeks as major news outlets and travel websites compile their ‘best of 2017’ lists.
According to Bloomberg’s piece, it is “easy to understand why Colombia was the birthplace of magical realism,” when you see the country’s “natural splendor” and “extraordinary countryside.” Specifically they make reference to destinations such as the Cocora Valley, Tatacoa Desert, Tayrona, Cartagena and Bogota, which “has become deft at catering to the jet set.”

2017 is poised to a massive year for Colombian tourism in the wake of the peace deal with the FARC guerrillas, with the government confidently expecting their highest number of foreign visitors ever. Bloomberg’s endorsement is just another positive piece of news for this once so maligned travel destination.

You’re absolutely right Chris. I was born in Barranquilla and currently live in Miami. I travel back and forth as much as possible and LOVE my country.
Will actual be back in Cartagena first weekend in February. Any chance you’ll be around? I’m a digital journalist for different publications here in Miami and would love to meet!
