Being a vegetarian in a carnivorous country like Colombia is damn right difficult. Especially since eating meat is pretty much Colombia’s favourite past-time. But if you are a vego and want a daily dose of greens while you live in or travel Colombia, then here are some delicious places you should visit.

Maha Veg
This place is my personal favourites. They have the most delicious smoothies I have tried in Colombia and have super food ingredients including macca and spirulina. This restaurant has been serving up healthy vegetarian and vegan food since 2008 and is definitely worth the visit. Head over for their lunch special which includes soup, a main dish, fruit dessert and juice for around $8,000. Delicious. And, as if delicious vego food wasn’t enough, they also offer yoga and meditation classes upstairs on certain days. Check it out.

Pita Wok
Specialising in middle-eastern inspired food, the menu at pita wok is full of tasty vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. I am a fan of the Mixto Vegeteriano myself, which is a plate full of salad, rice, falafel, tofu and tahini – all for $8,500. The limonada con hierbabuena is delicious too!

Casitah hOMe Yoga
Now, while this place is not techinally a restaurant or even a café, Casitah hOMe Yoga has the tastiest vegan cake around. This beautiful yoga space in Chapinero was set up by gorgeous yogis Zarah and Diego who teach classes from their own home. After an intimate and spiritual yoga class, you can purchase some delicious vegan cake for just $5,000. The perfect way to end a class and to start the day.

See, there is more to Colombian food than just chicken, chicharrón and chorizo – you just have to search a little harder for it. For more vegetarian options, check out this site.

Also you should try Pan de nobles (Carrera 9 No. 60 – 83) They have a regular restaurant and an amazing fast food one. Everything is delicious and not expensive at all ($7.000 – $10.000) https://www.facebook.com/pandenobles Highly recommended: Quinua and smoked soy burgers.
Felipan is also a great option (Calle 51 # 9 – 73) all days menu changes, even during the day! http://www.felipan.com/ check their facebook page for updates and dish photos (I promise they’ll water your mouth)
