Day 1. Bogota
Upon arrival, one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to a select hotel where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming adventure with us.
Day 2. Bogota. City Tour
This tour allows you to discover the vibrant cultural history of the spiritual heart of Bogota, the Candelaria. The tour is adjustable to suit various weather conditions and preferences, and is a fun way to truly get in touch with Bogota´s manic energy. The tour starts at 10:30am and lasts for 3 to 5 hours, and encompasses all the capital´s major points of interest, including the edgy student vibe of the Chorro, the impressive collection of the Botero museum and Bogota´s main plaza. It´s very flexible, so if there´s anything you´re burning to see, feel free to mention it to your guide.
Day 3. Bogota – Zipaquira – Villa de Leyva. Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira
We start off marvelling at the unmissable cathedral below the colonial town of Zipaquira, completely carved out of salt and dramatically lit. Next stop is the fabled Lake of Guatavita, birthplace of the El Dorado legend. We then continue on our merry way to Villa De Leyva.
Day 4. Villa de Leyva. City Tour
Soak up the timeless ease of the immaculately preserved colonial glory of this city, as we guide you through Villa de Leyva´s long history and cobblestones, covering such things as the Nariño Museum, former home of a pre-independence lynchpin, and the biggest plaza in Colombia.
Day 5. Villa de Leyva - Raquira – Bogota
After breakfast we head back to Bogota. On the way we cross the La Candelaria Desert and Convento: the first Augustinian monastery in America. Leaving the monastery behind we make a short stop in Raquira. A colorful town, which in Chibicha means “the town of pots”, it is known as the handicrafts center of Colombia, and is a veritable haven for souvenir hunters.
Day 6. Bogota – Armenia - Finca
After arriving at the airport or bus terminal, we head to to your chosen coffee farm near Armenia to experience the traditional coffee culture firsthand, responsible for the best beans in the world.
Day 7. Finca – Cocora Valley
We head to the colonial charm of Salento and the unbelievably tall palm trees and surreal surroundings of Cocora Valley, both unexpected delights it would be a shame to miss out on any Colombian tour.
Day 8. Finca. Coffee Experience and Tasting
RECUCA is a Cultural Coffee Experience tour where you will gain a unique insight into the real lives of the coffee growers. This tour allows us to learn the fascinating history of the coffee growing culture and the birth of the local paisa culture. Try the traditional outfits on for size and harvest, pulp, dry, roast and grind your own coffee the way the locals have always done it. After such a proper day´s work, can sit down to enjoy a cup of the world´s best coffee from beans you´ve produced yourself.
Day 9. Armenia – Cartagena
After breakfast, transfer to the airport or bus terminal for your journey. Upon arrival in beautiful Cartagena transfer to your specially chosen hotel to relax and prepare for your upcoming adventure.
Day 10. Cartagena. City Tour
Begin your time in this old pirate city with a visit to Cerro de la Popa, built on top of a hill with Cartagena´s best view. Following this we will see the city´s most historic church San Pedro Claver, and hear the stories about its legendary patron saint. Finding ourselves in the Old City, we visit Plaza Bolivar, Bobedas and the swanky Bocagrande Panoramic. The Old City retains all the charm of the colonial days, its narrow, cobbled streets flanked by impeccably restored colonial mansions. We will finish in Pierino Gallo, for some top-notch shopping. Your afternoon will be free to enjoy the city at your leisure.
Day 11. Cartagena
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport. All good things must come to an end, after all. Of course, if 11 days just isn´t enough time in Colombia, our tours are 100% customisable and we´d be happy to extend your stay with us. Just ask for more details.
