You will be introduced to the unique landscapes and colours of the the Colombian Caribbean and the Coffee Region, home to Colombia’s national tree, the wax palm. You can learn how Colombian coffee is made, from picking the very first beans to pouring the perfect cup. Day 1 - March 1. Bogota
Upon arrival one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hostel where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming adventure with us.
Day 2 - March 2. Bogota - Leticia - Floating House
At the chosen time transfer to the airport for your flight to the Amazon. Upon arrival to Leticia you will be transferred to the port for your 15 min boat ride on the Amazon River to Kurupira’s amazing Floating House. Tonight you’ll have a delicious dinner and spend the night relaxing. Meals: D.
Day 3 & 4 - March 3 & 4. Natural Reserve
You’ll transfer to the town pier to board the boat that will lead to the Heliconia Natural Reserve. The journey is approximately three hours, during which you’ll sail on the majestic Amazon River and then by one of its biggest and most important tributaries in the area, the Javari River, which borders Peru and Brazil. During our tour, in addition to tasting the coastal landscape, you’ll pass by the authentic and unique Amazonian populations that still retain the vestiges of the period of colonization and the great rubber boom, combined with views of exotic animal species such as the famous Amazonian freshwater dolphins (Pink or Grey), colorful macaws, herons, kingfishers, eagles, butterflies and many other surprises that can only be believed by visiting this magical world. Finally, arrive at the reserve Ecohotel Heliconia and sample a delicious local meal. Meals: B, L, D.
During your stay in the Lodge you have a choice of activities and tours at your disposal. We’re keen to ensure you have the Amazonian tour that suits all your needs and, therefore, we think it’s important that you get to make the final decision on exactly what it is you do in this fascinating region. Of course, if you want recommendations or advice, don’t hesitate to ask. We recommend you plan for two activities per day in order to enjoy them fully. Activities can be repeated. Day 5 - March 5. Leticia - Bogota
Enjoy breakfast in the Amazon and one last activity before returning to Leticia, at the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport. Upon arrival in Bogota, transfer to your hotel. Meals: B.
Day 6 - March 6. Bogota - Neiva - San Agustin
At the chosen time transfer to the airport or bus terminal. Upon arrival at Neiva’s airport/bus terminal one of See Colombia Travel’s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hotel in San Agustin (4 hours). Meals: B.
Day 7 - March 7. San Agustin
At the prearranged time transfer to San Agustin Archaeological Park named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. During your time at the park we’ll have the chance to visit the archaeological museum, the ceremonial fountain “Lavapatas” and sites (mesitas) A, B, C and D. After lunch we’ll visit the sites of “El Tablon” y “La Chaquira” horseback riding through the spectacular Andean countryside. Meals: B.
Day 8 - March 8. Isnos
After breakfast we will head toward the town of Isnos to see the strait of the Magdalena River and the second most important archaeological site in the area – the Alto de Los Idolos Archaeological Park, home to the second largest statue around San Agustin. We’ll then visit the tombs located in Alto de Las Piedras. Afterwards we will appreciate the natural beauty of this region by visiting two spectacular waterfalls. Return to San Agustin. Meals: B.
Day 9 - March 9. Tatacoa Desert
At the chosen time transfer to the Tatacoa desert. You’ll walk among the red landscapes of the desert, amazed by the vibrant oranges and reds that define the area. You will also get to visit the observation tower to take a look at the clear stars that fill the sky. Meals: B.
Day 10 - March 10. Tatacoa Desert
Today you’ll visit the grey area – but it’s far from being dull. Just like visiting another planet, you’ll see some amazing rock formations before visiting a hidden swimming pool located in the middle of the desert. Meals: B.
Day 11 - March 11. Tatacoa Desert - Neiva
At the chosen time transfer to Neiva´s airport for your flight to Santa Marta. Meals: B.
Day 12 to 16 - March 12 to 16. No services provided
Day 17 to 20 - March 17 to 20. Lost City Trek
Day 1. Santa Marta – El Mamey. First camp site (4 hour walk).
We leave at 9 am from our meeting point in Santa Marta. Three hours later we will reach the local village of El Mamey, from where we’ll begin our ascend to the first camp site. Upon arrival you’ll have the chance to go for a swim at a natural spring. Tonight we’ll sleep in hammocks.
Day 2. Second Camp Site (4 hour walk).
After an early breakfast, we start today’s walk through the forest descending to into a small valley formed by the Buritaca riverwhere you’ll have your first encounter with the local indigenous communities in the Mutanyi village. We have 3 more hours walk before we reach the cabin where we will spend the night. Upon arrival we can cool off in the natural pools formed by the Buritaca river.
Day 3. Lost City (1.5 hour walk) and trek back to campsite.
Today, we cross the Buritaca river to finally arrive to the long awaited Lost City (sacred site for the current local communities of theSierra Nevada). At 9am we begin our adventure into the park, learning about the different ways the pre-Hispanic Tayronas adapted to their environment, we will also have an opportunity to see the ceremonial houses of the present day Tayronas and the vegetation that form a unique backdrop to the prehistoric legacy. Along the route it is also possible to take a bath in the pool of youth, which according to the legend works wonderfully well. At the end of the tour, some notes about the archaeological sites of the mountain range are available to read, and a short informative chat about the site can be arranged with the guide.
Day 4. Return to Santa Marta.
After breakfast, we reach the Machete town and enjoy a refreshing swim in the river continuing afterwards to Santa Marta where we will arrive at approximately 4pm. Transfer to chosen hotel. Meals: B, L, D on all days.
Day 21 - March 21. Santa Marta - Bogota
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Bogota. Upon arrival transfer to your chosen hotel. Meals: B.
Day 22 - March 22. Bogota - Free Day
Free day to enjoy the city. Enjoy Colombia’s dynamic, vibrant capital. Wander the colonial streets of La Candelaria and discover the fantastic museums housed there, rub shoulders with Bogotanos in the bars of Zona T and sample some of the finest Colombian and international cuisine in Zona G. Meals: B.
Day 23 - March 23. Bogota - Providencia
At a chosen time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Providencia via San Andres. Upon arrival in Providencia you will be transferred to your chosen hotel. Meals: B.
Day 24 to 28 - March 24 to 28. Providencia
During the next 3 days enjoy the wonderful underwater world of Providencia island taking at least 2 dives per day (1 dvie first and last day and 2 dives per day on the ramainig days). Your last day is free to enjoy the beautiful white sand beaches of Providencia, the fascinating color of the sea or just relax by the Caribbean sea. Meals: B.
Day 29 - March 29. Providencia - Bogota - Home
At a chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Bogota and your flight back home. All good things must come to an end, after all.
