Colombia is a country of dizzying variety. This tour will introduce you to the fascinating blend of adventures offered within Colombia’s borders. You’ll see some of Colombia’s most important cites, such as bustling Bogotá, the enchanting city of Cartagena, the colonial Villa de Leyva and quaint Manizales. You will be introduced to the unique landscapes and colours of the the Colombian Caribbean and the Coffee Region, home to Colombia’s national tree, the wax palm. You can learn how Colombian coffee is made, from picking the very first beans to pouring the perfect cup. You will wander the desolate beaches of Tayrona National Park, where palm trees sway in the breeze and turquoise waters lap the golden Caribbean shores. Day 1 - August 16. Bogota
Upon arrival one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hotel where you can prepare for your upcoming adventure with us.
Day 2 - August 17. Zipaquira. Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira
Today we will visit the salt mines of Zipaquira, from where the monumental Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira was excavated. This unique structure is almost 400ft deep and it occupies an area of around 8000m², with four sections, each one 300ft long and 42ft wide. It presents 12, 30ft high impressive salt columns that support the structure. In the first tract of the underground journey, you will find the XIV Stations of the Via Cruxis, each designed by a local artist. Subsequently, a 175 meter long ramp descending to the last 13 meters towards the balconies on the cameras and the church choir. The final tract leads to the center of the Cathedral where we find the three monumental cameras and the 16m tall cross.Return to Bogota. Meals: B.
Day 3 - August 18. Bogota - Bike Tour
This tour allows you to discover the colorful history and culture of la Candelaria neighborhood, located in the historic center of Bogota. The tour is adjustable to suit various weather conditions and preferences. It enables you to visit the city in a more fun way, allowing a closer interaction between the visitor and Bogota. The tour starts at 10:30am and lasts for 3 to 5 hours, passing by the Plaza del Chorro, the Botero museum, the National Museum, Plaza Bolivar, local market plaza, central cemetery, Egipto Neighborhood, the Colombian National University, the Gabriel Garcia Marquez cultural center, the Bullfighting Stadium, when available, and many other interest sites. It is very flexible, so if you have suggestions feel free to mention them to the guide. Meals: B.
Day 4 - August 19. Bogota - Medellin
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Medellin. Upon arrival one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hotel. Meals: B.
Day 5 - August 20. Medellin - Santa Helena - Arvi Park. Bike ride
Home of the silleteros (flower farmers) and to one of the largest ecological parks in the region, Santa Elena offers the perfect mix of Colombian culture, natural beauty and adventurous activities, all within close proximity to Medellin. At the chosen time you’ll be picked up from your hotel and taken to San Elena only 52 kms away from Medellin. Before leaving Medellin please choose from one of the following options: for a 4-hour horseback ride or bike ride through farms to panoramic view points and canopy and rope challenge at Arvi Park. Meals: B, L (lunch box).
Day 6 - August 21. Medellin. Free day
Today is a free day to enjoy the city of the “Eternal Spring”. As an optional activity take a 4 hour trip, that uncovers the roots of Medellín and its most iconic symbols, such as the “Pueblito Paisa”, the Intelligent Building, the Plaza Mayor, the Administrative Center of La Alpujarra and Carabobo street. We will travel in the “Metro Cable”, a massive transportation system unique to the city, and visit of the España Library Park and its distinctive architectural structure.
Pablo Escobar Tour
After lunch take a tour (optional) that gives you the chance to explore the infamous criminal’s life and legacy. The tour begins with information given to you on your way to Pablo Escobar’s old house, just outside of the city center. It’s here that you’ll get the opportunity to meet Pablo Escobar’s brother, Roberto. Roberto will welcome you to the house as your tour guide talks you through the remnants of Escobar’s life: his old cars, his hideouts, old photos and much more. Once you’ve been around the house you’ll be able to ask Roberto any questions you like about his life now or in the past (note that any money donated at this point goes towards a charity aimed at helping vulnerable communities in Medellin). Day 7 & 8 - August 22 & 23. Medellin - Jardin
At the chosen time transfer to Jardin (about 3 hours). During the next two days you´ll have the option of embarking on your journey to the Alto de Las Flores waterfall and the Splendor Cave. After having time to explore the Spendor Cave, we will return the same way we came. Upon our return to the house where the horses were left, we will have the option to go to a coffee farm to experience the process of producing coffee. Should you choose to visit the coffee farm, lunch will be included. Return to Jardin at the end of the day’s activities. Meals: B.
Day 9 - August 24. Jardin - Medellin - Cartagena
At the chosen time transfer to Medellin airport. Upon arrival in Cartagena one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hotel where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming adventure with us. Meals: B.
Day 10 - August 25. Cartagena. Segway City Tour
Take an exciting look at this historical city from your own personal segway. You’ll have the chance to scoot around visiting the many beautiful sites of this colourful colonial city such as the gold museum, Las Bovedas, PLaza de la Proclamacion, the Cartagena cathedral and many more (entrances not included). Your afternoon is free to enjoy the city. Meals: B.
Day 11 - August 26. Cartagena. Free Day
Free days to enjoy the city; to get lost in one of the many plazas and coble stone streets and have a drink watching the sunset on top of the city wall. Also, a great opportunity to visit one of the Rosario Islands. Meals: B.
Day 12 - August 27. Cartagena - Home
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Bogota and back home.
