Day 1 - March 9. Bogota
Upon arrival one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hotel where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming adventure with us.
Bogota - Chia. Andres carne de Res
At the chosen time transfer to Andres Carne de Res in Chia, a town just outside of Bogota. This extraordinary steakhouse is much more than a meal. The decorations and atmosphere are incredible, and the rumba that begins later in the evening is unforgettable. This afternoon will be sure to be memorable. Meals: B.
Day 2 - March 10. Bogota - Usaquen Market
Today you will be picked up at your hotel for a 4 hour tour of Usaquen, one of the most charming secrets of Bogota. Located in the north of the city, Usaquen used to be an adjacent town about 30 minutes away from Bogota. It is now one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of the city with great views of the mountains, great shops and restaurants and a vibrant Sunday flea market. Meals: B.
Day 3 - March 11. Bogota- Zipaquira – Villa de Leyva
Departure towards Villa de Leyva. On the way we will visit the salt mines of Zipaquira, from where the monumental Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira was excavated. This unique structure is almost 400ft deep and it occupies an area of around 8000m², with four sections, each one 300ft long and 42ft wide. It presents 12, 30ft high impressive salt columns that support the structure. In the first tract of the underground journey, you will find the XIV Stations of the Via Cruxis, each designed by a local artist. Subsequently, a 175 meter long ramp descending to the last 13 meters towards the balconies on the cameras and the church choir. The final tract leads to the center of the Cathedral where we find the three monumental cameras and the 16m tall cross. We continue on our way to Villa De Leyva. Meals: B.
Day 4 - March 12. Villa de Leyva. Half day walking tour & Red desert tour
The visit begins through the Ricaurte Square, also known as San Agustin Square and continues to the house of Antonio Nariño, who was a journalist, politician, and militant. He played an important role in the independence of the country. The visit continues through the Main Square. Covering over 14000m², it is the biggest square in Colombia. There you will see the notorious Cathedral, and the facade of what used to be the house of Luis Alberto Acuña, a painter, sculptor, and Colombian historian who transformed it into a museum. The tour ends with a visit to the church of El Carmen and its surrounding park. After lunch we will take you for a short visit to the red desert surrounding Villa de Leyva. Meals: B.
Day 5 - March 13. Villa de Leyva – Bogota
After breakfast, you will be transferred along the beautiful Boyaca’s countryside back to Bogota. Meals: B.
Day 6 - March 14. Bogota - City Tour
This is a six-hour excursion that visits the colonial area of La Candelaria, the historical center of the city. It is in the oldest part of the capital, where you’ll find museums, restaurants and cultural institutions. Afterwards we visit the Bolívar Square at the heart of the city and surrounded by buildings of various styles and from various periods, such as the Cathedral, the Chapel of El Sagrario, the Cardinal’s Palace and the Capitolio or Congress Building. Behind the latter is the Nariño Palace, home of the president. We continue to the Quinta de Bolívar. Once a colonial mansion of great architectural value, it is now converted into a museum that houses documents and objects that belonged to Simón Bolívar. Afterwards we will go to the Gold Museum (closed on Mondays), where we will find a collection of more than 36,000 pieces of pre-Columbian manufacture; being the only display of its kind in the world. Finally, we will take a cable car to visit Monserrate for a fantastic view of the city. Meals: B.
Day 7 - March 15. Bogota - Cartagena
At the chosen time transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Cartagena. Upon arrival in Cartagena transfer to your chosen hotel where you can have dinner, relax and prepare for the rest of your adventure. Meals: B.
Day 8 - March 16. Cartagena. Segway City Tour
Take an exciting look at this historical city from your own personal segway. You’ll have the chance to scoot around visiting the many beautiful sites of this colourful colonial city. Your afternoon is free to enjoy the city. Meals: B.
Day 9 - March 17. Cartagena - La Boquilla Mangrove
See Colombia Travel is currently supporting the local fishing community of La Boquilla and it is here that you will get the opportunity to have a unique insight into the life of a fisherman. Firstly, you will be transferred by taxi to the village where you will take a short walk along the beach and take an amazing journey through the stunning mangroves of the area. In a traditional canoe you will watch the natural surroundings slowly pass by. Leaving the amazing mangrove tunnels, we will then head back to the beach for a traditional lunch with the community, which consists of fish, coconut rice, salad and plantain before heading back to Cartagena by land. Day 10 - March 18. Cartagena. Day on the Majagua Islands
Majagua Islands has a couple of the most beautiful beaches on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. This is the perfect place to enjoy the beach and tropical Caribbean climate, and a great opportunity to taste the local cuisine, mostly consisting of fish and rice flavored with coconut. This boat journey takes you to discover this paradise, far from the bustling city. Meals: B, L.
Day 11 - March 19. Cartagena
Free day to enjoy the beautiful city of Cartagena and its coble stone streets within the walled city. Enjoy one last sunset drink on top of the Muralla (old wall surrounding the city). Meals: B.
Day 12 - March 20. Cartagena - Home
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Bogota and home. All good things must come to an end, after all.
