Colombia is a country of dizzying variety. This tour will introduce you to the fascinating blend of adventures offered within Colombia’s borders. You’ll see some of Colombia’s most important cites, such as bustling Bogotá, the enchanting city of Cartagena and the diverse Amazon. You will have the chance to see some of Colombia’s diverse, fascinating wildlife, exploring the Colombian Amazon and learning more about the indigenous tribes that have lived in this area. Seeing such a biologically rich face of Colombia will leave you awestruck by the country’s diversity. In addition to the suggested itinerary, it’s possible to go night kayaking (and more) which comes highly recommended.
Day 1 - December 21. Bogota
Upon arrival one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hotel where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming adventure with us.
Day 2 - December 22.Bogota - Cartagena
Transfer to the airport. Upon arrival in Cartagena one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hotel. Meals: B.
Day 3 - December 23. Cartagena. City Tour
We take approximately four hours visiting the city, including the modern residential neighborhood of Bocagrande and, later, the Castle of San Felipe – an imposing stone structure regarded as the masterpiece of the Spanish military engineering in the Americas. Finally, the Convent of La Popa is a cloister built on top of a hill that dominates the entire urban complex. Your afternoon is free to enjoy the walled city. Meals: B.
Day 4 - December 24. Cartagena. Day on the islands
Located on the Rosario Islands about 1 hour from Cartagena, Pirat Island is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. This is the perfect place to enjoy the beach and tropical Caribbean climate, and a great opportunity to taste the local cuisine, mostly consisting of fish and rice flavored with coconut. This boat journey takes you to discover this paradise, far from the bustling city, crossing the bay and docking at the coast of Pirat Island. Meals: B, L.
Day 5 & 6 - December 25 & 26. Cartagena. Free Days
Free days to enjoy the city; to get lost in one of the many plazas and coble stone streets, have a drink watching the sunset on top of the city wall or visit some of the local beaches. Meals: B.
Day 7 - December 27. Cartagena - Bogota
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Bogota. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel to relax and get ready for the upcoming journey to the Amazon. Meals: B.
Day 8 - December 28. Bogota - Leticia
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the Amazon. You’ll be welcomed at the Airport Vásquez Cobo in the city of Leticia and taken to your hotel. At chosen time you´ll be taken for a short city walk. Meals: B.
Day 9 to 13 - December 29 to January 1. Amazon
The following is your schedule for the next 5 days:
Day 2: Leticia – Puerto Nariño + island monkeys – Leticia
After breakfast we´ll take a full day excursion on the Amazon River that includes visits to the Victoria Regia, Macedonia indigenous community, Monkey Island, the town of Puerto Nariño and Tarapoto lakes. Return to Leticia. Includes transportation, lunch and entrance fees to parks and reserves.
Day 3: Leticia – Marasha Nature Reserve (Peru)
After breakfast we start heading to Marasha natural reserve where we´ll spend the night. Located only 30 minutes by boat from Leticia on the border with Peru, the reserve has an area of virgin forest and lake Marasha. There are tons of activities you can do including fishing, canoeing, bird watching, jungle walks, night watching alligators. Lunch, dinner and activities are included. Accommodation is in huts with mosquito net.
Day 4: Marasha Nature Reserve (Peru) – Canopy Canopy
Enjoy breakfast before returning to Leticia. After lunch (not included) we take a local truck on our way to a privileged place on the roof of the forest (canopy) at 37 meters high. Perfect place to take great photos of the family and the unique Amazon rainforest. Return to Leticia.
Day 5: Leticia – Tabatinga Brazil
Today we´ll visit Tabatinga (Brazil). Travel 90 minutes by taxi or mini-car, to the Brazilian border where you´ll have the change to learn a few words in Portuguese, appreciate a bit of Brazilian architecture, buy the famous shoes “Azaleia” and visit the Casa del Chocolate where you can buy the famous “garotos, samba” chocolates .
Day 13 - January 2. Leticia - Home
Enjoy breakfast in the Amazon one last time. At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport. All good things must come to an end, after all. Of course, if 13 days just isn´t enough time in Colombia, our tours are 100% customizable and we´d be happy to extend your stay with us. Just ask for more details. Meals: B.
