Colombia is a country of dizzying variety. This tour will introduce you to the fascinating blend of adventures offered within Colombia’s borders. You’ll see some of Colombia’s most important cites, such as bustling Bogotá, modern Medellin, and quaint Coffee Triangle. You will be introduced to the unique landscapes and colours of the the Colombian Andes and the Coffee Region, home to Colombia’s national tree, the wax palm. Day 1 - December 21. Bogota – Armenia
Upon arrival in Armenia, you will transfer to your specially chosen finca where you can relax in a unique way for your upcoming adventures.
Day 2 - December 22. Armenia - Salento. Cocora Valley
At the prearranged time the expedition begins, heading to Salento – where you´ll spend the night – and the Cocora Valley. It holds within it a colonial and historic past, as you will see as you walk amongst the unique landscapes, observing the flowing clear water of the Quindio River, and the unique palm of wax the national tree.
Salento and in general the Coffee Triangle, has one of the richest coffee cultures and most scenic coffee crops. It has preserved its colonial architecture and the customs of the local country people. Furthermore, it’s an ideal site for hiking or horseback rides followed by a meal of exquisite trout, the prized local dish. Horseback riding included. Meals: B.
Day 3 - December 23. Salento - Armenia. White Water Rafting - Barragan River
Today you’ll have the chance to raft down Barragan River. You’ll be picked up from Sanlento and taken back to your Finca and then driven to Rancho California where you’ll be briefed about the details of this activity and provided with all required equipment. From there we will head to our departure point for our upcoming adventure of 8.5 ks of unique flora and fauna down the Barragan River. Meals: B.
Day 4 - December 24. Las Aguilas - Nevados National Park
At the pre arranged time, transfer to the Los Nevados Natural Reserve. On the way we will stop a few times in order to acclimatize to the altitude before arriving to the Laguna Negra (the Black Lake). There we’ll meet an expert guide that will assist us in our climb to the Nevados. On the way we’ll walk past the “Aguacerales” and The Valley of the Moon. We will take a break at the Chalet, where we’ll stop for some hot tea and a briefing of what is next. Then we will continue hiking to the second shelter, which is where we’ll start our final ascent to the glacier. During the hike you will have free time to enjoy the park and its beautiful scenery. Later, at the prearranged time, we will start heading back to our hotel. But not before stopping at the hot springs for a well deserved dip in the natural thermal pools! Meals: B.
Day 5 - December 25. Armenia - Santa Marta - Palomino
At the chosen time, transfer to the airport for your flight to Santa Marta. Upon arrival transfer to your chosen hotel in Palomino. Meals: B.
Day 6 & 7 - December 26 & 27. Palomino
During the next few days enjoy and relax by the sea, sunning yourself and reflecting upon your wonderful journey on one of Colombia’s most beautiful beaches.
As optional activities you can:spend your first whole day in on of the many beaches at the Tayrona National Park .
The next day, be taken for a beautiful hike to a waterfall in the morning. Then, after lunch, you could take a trail to the mouth of the Palomino River or just relax into a hammock with a good book.
Optionally, you will have the wonderful opportunity to go visit a village of the Kogi, descendants of the Tayrona. Here you will have the chance to see how the traditions of the Tayrona people are still present in the everyday lives of the Kogi. Meals: B on all days.
Day 8 - December 28. Palomino - Cartagena
At the chosen time, land transfer to Cartagena (approx 6 hrs) where you can relax and prepare to receive 2015 in style. Meals: B.
Day 9 - December 29. Cartagena. Segway City Tour
Take an exciting look at this historical city from your own personal segway. You’ll have the chance to scoot around visiting the many beautiful sites of this colourful colonial city such as the gold museum, Las Bovedas, PLaza de la Proclamacion, the Cartagena cathedral and many more (entrances not included). Your afternoon is free to enjoy the city. Meals: B.
Day 10 - December 30. Cartagena. Day on the islands
Located on the Rosario Islands about 1 hour from Cartagena, Isla del Pirata is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. This is the perfect place to enjoy the beach and tropical Caribbean climate, and a great opportunity to taste the local cuisine, mostly consisting of fish and rice flavored with coconut. This boat journey takes you to discover this paradise, far from the bustling city, crossing the bay and docking at the coast of Pirate Island. Meals: B, L.
Day 11 - December 31. Cartagena. Free day
Free days to enjoy the beautiful city of Cartagena and get lost in its many colonial plazas and cobble stone streets. In the eveing get ready to receive the new year with style!. Meals: B
Day 12 - January 1. Cartagena - Home.
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. All good things must come to an end, after all.
