Colombia is a country of dizzying variety. This tour will introduce you to the fascinating blend of adventures offered within Colombia’s borders. You’ll see some of Colombia’s most important cites, such as bustling Bogotá, the enchanting city of Cartagena, the colonial Salento. You will be introduced to the unique landscapes and colours of the the Colombian Caribbean and the Coffee Region, home to Colombia’s national tree, the wax palm. You can learn how Colombian coffee is made, from picking the very first beans to pouring the perfect cup. You will wander the desolate beaches of Tayrona National Park, where palm trees sway in the breeze and turquoise waters lap the golden Caribbean shores. Day 1 - December 23. Bogota - Leticia
At the chosen time transfer to Bogota´s airport. Upon arrival to Leticia you will be transferred to your hotel. Afterwards, you’ll be taken for a city walk before returning to your hotel.
Day 2 - December 24. Amazon
A spectacular Amazonian sunrise will be the perfect way to wake up. After breakfast you’ll enjoy a boat ride (approx 1.5hrs) on the Amazon River on the way to the “Isla de los Micos” (Monkey Island). You’ll also visit the native community of Macedonia where you will also have lunch. You’ll continue for a visit to Puerto Nariño and tarapoto lakes. In the afternoon return to Leticia, lead by the unique pink dolphins in the river. Meals: B,L.
Day 3 & 4 - December 25 & 26. Leticia - Bogota - Armenia
Today you´ll visit the Amazon World Eco Park. Tehe following day, after breakfast, you will be transferred to Leticia’s airport for your flight back to Bogota and onward to Armenia. Please note that the above activities may vary based on your arrival and departure times at Leticia.
TUpon arrival in Armenia, you will transfer to your specially chosen hotal where you can relax for your upcoming adventures. During your time at the Coffee Triangle you’ll stay in a traditional coffee farm (finca) which features colourful, traditional balconies, mud ceiling tiles and a fresh cup coffee (tinto) always available. Day 5- December 27. Cocora Valley
At the prearranged time the expedition begins, heading to Salento and the Cocora Valley. It holds within it a colonial and historic past, as you will see as you walk amongst the unique landscapes, observing the flowing clear water of the Quindio River, and the unique palm of wax the national tree.
Salento and in general the Coffee Triangle, has one of the richest coffee cultures and most scenic coffee crops. It has preserved its colonial architecture and the customs of the local country people. Furthermore, it’s an ideal site for hiking or horseback rides followed by a meal of exquisite trout, the prized local dish. Todays lunch is included at a traditional local restaurant. As an optional activity, we’ll take you to Santa Rosa, home of the famous hotsprings for a relaxing end of day. Meals: B.
Day 6 - December 28. Armenia. Coffee Experience and Tasting
During the Cultural Coffee Experience tour you will gain a unique insight into the real lives of the coffee workers. This tour allows us to learn the fantastic and mystical history of the coffee growing culture and the colonization of Antioquia. From the coffee corps we will continue to the Joyful Harvest, where you can wear traditional outfits and harvest, pulp, dry, roast and ground your own coffee as the locals have done since colonial times. Then, after a great day at work you can sit down and enjoy a fantastic cup of the best Colombia Coffee, specially processed and made by you, for you!. Meals: B.
Day 7 - December 29. Armenia - Santa Marta - Palomino
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Santa Marta. Upon arrival in Santa Marta, you will travel to one of the highlights of this tour: Palomino area where the jungle meets the Caribbean. In the afternoon, feel free to indulge yourselves in a spa treatment (optional – not included). Meals:B.
Day 8 & 9 - December 30 & 31. Palomino
During the next two days enjoy and relax by the sea, sunning yourself and reflecting upon your wonderful journey on one of Colombia’s most beautiful beaches.
As an optional activity you can spend your first whole day in on of the many beaches at the Tayrona National Park.
The next day you will have the wonderful chance to go visit a Kogi village, descendants of the Tayrona. Here you will have the opportunity to see how the traditions of the Tayrona people are still present in the everyday lives of the Kogi.
For your free time at the beach you have option to relax in a hammock with a book, visit the Valencia River, relax at the beach, or indulge in one of their many spa treatments (including chocotherapy!). Meals: B on all days.
Day 10 - January 1. Palomino - Cartagena
At the chosen time, land transfer to Cartagena in regular service (aprox 6 to 8 hrs) where you will spend the night. Meals: B.
Day 11 & 12 - January 2 & 3. Cartagena. Free days
Free days to enjoy the city. Get lost in the many plazas, meander through the cobble stone streets and be enchanted by Cartagena’s rich architecture and overwhelming history. As the sunsets, have a drink on top of the old wall watching the sun go down on the Caribbean. Meals: B.
Day 13 - January 4. Cartagena - Bogota
At your chosen time transfer to the airport for your flight back to Bogota and home. All good things must come to an end, after all.
