Colombia is a country of dizzying variety. This tour will introduce you to the fascinating blend of adventures offered within Colombia’s borders. You’ll see some of Colombia’s most important cites, such as bustling Bogotá, the enchanting city of Cartagena, the colonial Villa de Leyva and quaint Coffee Triangle. You will be introduced to the unique landscapes and colours of the the Colombian Caribbean and the Coffee Region, home to Colombia’s national tree, the wax palm. You can learn how Colombian coffee is made, from picking the very first beans to pouring the perfect cup. You will wander the desolate beaches of Tayrona National Park, where palm trees sway in the breeze and turquoise waters lap the golden Caribbean shores. Day 1 - February 4. Home – Pereira
Upon arrival, you will transfer to your specially chosen finca where you can relax in a unique way for your upcoming adventures.
Day 2 - February 5. Armenia - Las Aguilas - Nevados National Park
At the pre-arranged time, transfer to the Los Nevados Natural Reserve passing by the city of Manizales. On the way we will stop a few times in order to acclimatize to the altitude before arriving to the Laguna Negra (the Black Lake). There we’ll meet an expert guide and have some coca tea. We continue on our way to the Arbolito area where the guide will brief you. Today´s photogenic walk will take approximately 4 hours where you´ll have the chance to see the snow caped mountains of Ruiz, Santa Isabel and Cisne; the black lagoon and the amazing eagles. You´ll then continue to the Arrieros Hermitaños cave where we´ll enjoy a picnic. Later, at the prearranged time, we will start heading back to the hotel. But not before stopping fot lunch and the at the hot springs for a well deserved dip in the natural thermal pools! Meals: B.
Day 3 - February 6. Bird watching - Rio Blanco
Today you will visit one of the most important birdwatching sites of the area. Rio Blanco reserve operated by Fundacion Ecologica Gabriel Arango Restrepo (FUNDEGAR) and owned by Aguas de Manizales the reserve is one of the best in Colombia for antpittas. There are several good trails which provide access to forest across a wide attitudinal range, while hummingbird feeders at the cabins are very well-attended. A large variety of endemics and specialties representative of the Cordillera Central can be found in the forest. Return to hotel. Meals: B.
Day 4 - February 7. Coffee Experience and Tasting
During the Cultural Coffee Experience tour, where you will gain a unique insight into the real lives of the coffee workers. This tour allows us to learn the fantastic and mystical history of the coffee growing culture and the colonization of Antioquia. From the coffee corps we will continue to the Joyful Harvest, where you can wear traditional outfits and harvest, pulp, dry, roast and ground your own coffee as the locals have done since colonial times. Then, after a great day at work you can sit down and enjoy a fantastic cup of the best Colombia Coffee, specially processed and made by you, for you! Meals: B.
Day 5 - February 8. Armenia - Santa Marta
At the chosen time, transfer to the airport. Upon arrival one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen hotel. Meals: B.
Day 6 - February 9. Santa Marta. City tour
At the chosen time enjoy a four hour panoramic tour of Santa Marta where you´ll visit the beautiful Rodadero Bay, Taganga lookout, Customs House and the breathtaking Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino founded in 1608 where Simon Bolivar spend his last few days. Meals: B.
Day 7 - February 10. Palomino
Today you´ll visit the Tayrona National Park’s most unforgettable beaches and unmissable sites. Tayrona National Park is where the Colombian jungle meets the Caribbean, and is a great place for nature-lovers and beach-lovers alike. Important archaeological sites and beaches we’ll see include: Calabazo, Pueblito, Cape San Juan, La Piscina (natural swimming pool), Arrecifes and Cañaveral (entrance not included US$25pp). Meals: B.
Day 8 & 9 - February 11 & 12 . Santa Marta - Minca. Bird watching
At the chosen time land transfer to Santa Marta (aprox 5 hrs). Upon arrival you will be transferred by 4×4 to Minca where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming adventure with us.
Spend the next two days walking around the reserves where you´ll be able to see several species of raptors, Sooty-headed and Brown-capped Tyrannulet, Pale-eyed Pygmy-Tyrant and Pearly-vented Tody-Tyrant, Golden-fronted and Scrub Greenlet, Black-chested Jay, the delightful songsters Rufous-breasted and Rufous-and-white Wrens, Swallow and Black-headed Tanagers, Yellow-tailed Oriole and more. Day 10 - February 13. Minca - Santa Marta - Bogota.
Transfer by 4×4 from Minca to Santa Marta airport for your flight back to Bogota. Upon arrival, transfer to your chosen hotel where you will spend one last night in Colombia. Meals: B.
Day 11 - February 14. Bogota - Home.
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. All good things must come to an end, after all.
