You’ll have the chance – not only to see an amazing display of statues but also burial chambers, ritual buildings and unique petroglyphs spread throughout the valley. Day 1 - January 13. Neiva - Tatacoa Desert.
Upon arrival in Neiva, transfer toTatacoa Desert. In the evening you will also have the chance to visit the observation tower to take a look at the clear night sky filled with stars.
Day 2 - January 14. Tatacoa Desert - San Agustin..
Today you’ll have free time to walk among the red landscapes of the desert, amazed by the vibrant oranges and reds that define the area. Meals: B.
At a chosen time you will be picked up and transported to San Agustin and to your chosen hostel (4 to 5 hours). Meals: B.
Day 3 - January 15. San Agustin
At the prearranged time transfer to San Agustin Archaeological Park named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995. During your time at the park we’ll have the chance to visit the archaeological museum, the ceremonial fountain “Lavapatas” and sites (mesitas) A, B, C and D. After lunch we’ll visit the sites of “El Tablon” y “La Chaquira” horseback riding through the spectacular Andean countryside. Meals: B.
Day 4 - January 16. Tierradentro
After early breakfast we will head toward the archeological site of Tierradentro, one of Colombia’s true hidden gems.
A series of over 40 excavated burial tombs have been found, tunneled into the ground on several of the areas most beautiful hilltops. Painted and decorated with geometric designs in red, white and black dye and entered through spiral passageways, some up to 8 metres below the surface, these unique attractions have had archeologists puzzled for decades. Return to San Agustin. Meals: B.
Day 5 - January 17. San Agustin - Popayan
Enjoy a free morning in the Colombian Andes. At the chosen time you will be transferred by private vehicle to Popayan. All good things must come to an end, after all.
