Day 1 - July 1. Bogota - Armenia
At the prearrange time transfer to Bogota’s airport for your flight to Armenia. Upon arrival to Armenia, one of See Colombia Travel´s representatives will be on hand to transfer you to your chosen finca where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming adventure with us. During your time at the Coffee Triangle you’ll stay in a traditional coffee farm (finca) which features colourful, traditional balconies, mud ceiling tiles and a fresh cup coffee (tinto) always available.
Day 2 - July 2. Finca – Cocora Valley
At a prearranged time the expedition begins, heading to Salento and the Cocora Valley. It holds within it a colonial and historic past, as you will see as you walk amongst the unique landscapes, observing the flowing clear waters of the Quindio River, and the impressive plantations of wax palm- the national tree. Salento and in general the Coffee Triangle, has one of the richest coffee cultures and most scenic coffee crops. It has preserved its colonial architecture and the customs of the local country people. Furthermore, it’s an ideal site for hiking or horseback rides followed by a meal of exquisite trout, the prized local dish. Meals: B.
Day 3 - July 3. Manizales - Nevados National Park
At the pre arranged time, transfer to the Los Nevados Natural Reserve. On the way we will stop a few times in order to acclimatize to the altitude before arriving to the Laguna Negra (the Black Lake). There we’ll meet an expert guide that will assist us in our climb to the Nevados. On the way we’ll walk past the “Aguacerales” and The Valley of the Moon. We will take a break at the Chalet, where we’ll stop for some hot tea and a briefing of what is next. Then we will continue hiking to the second shelter, which is where we’ll start our final ascent to the glacier. During the hike you will have free time to enjoy the park and its beautiful scenery. Later, at the prearranged time, we will start heading back to our hotel. But not before stopping at the hot springs for a well deserved dip in the natural thermal pools! Meals: B.
Day 4 - July 4. Armenia. Parque Nacional del Cafe
The National Coffee Park is a fantastic day out in Colombia’s beautiful coffee region. Founded by the Colombia National Federation of Coffee Growers, it is so important to Colombia that it has been named a national heritage site. In a visit to the park you’ll learn all about traditional Colombian culture and activities.The National Coffee Park is an essential visit if you’re looking to learn more about Colombia and the history of the country’s coffee culture. Day 5 - July 5. White Water Rafting - Barragan River
Today you’ll have the chance to raft down Barragan River. You’ll be picked up from your Finca and driven to Rancho California where you’ll be briefed about the details of this activity and provided with all required equipment. From there we will head to our departure point for our upcoming adventure of 8.5 ks of unique flora and fauna down the Barragan River. Meals: B.
Day 6 - July 6. Coffee Experience and Tasting
During the Cultural Coffee Experience tour you will gain a unique insight into the real lives of the coffee workers. This tour allows us to learn the fantastic and mystical history of the coffee growing culture and the colonization of Antioquia. From the coffee corps we will continue to the Joyful Harvest, where you can wear traditional outfits and harvest, pulp, dry, roast and ground your own coffee as the locals have done since colonial times. Then, after a great day at work you can sit down and enjoy a fantastic cup of the best Colombia Coffee, specially processed and made by you, for you!. After lunch land transfer to Medellin through the colourful Autopista del Cafe (Coffee motorway). Meals: B.
Day 7 to 9 - July 7 to 9. Armenia. Free Days
Free day to enjoy the area. Take a walk in one of the many coffee fields in the region, relaxing in the sun surrounded by stunning views. Take some sun as you relax by the pool in a hammock, looking over the rolling fields of the coffee region. Meals: B.
Day 10 - July 10. Armenia - Bogota.
At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Bogota and chosen hotel. All good things must come to an end, after all.
