14th Annual Blues & Jazz Festival – Bogotá

Poster for the festival

If you’re yearning for some blues or jazz, we know where to satiate that inner mounting flame. Yup, as if EuroCine Festival wasn’t enough for those lucky Bogotanos when they’re taking time out from their busy schedules, this time of year has also seen the arrival of the annual Blues & Jazz Festival in Colombia’s capital.

It’s the 14th time the festival has graced the city and it continues to grow in stature and prominence as word increasingly gets out to those for whom music is their love supreme. The festival has been running since the beginning of April, but if that makes you kind of blue don’t worry – the festivities will continue until the 2nd of July, so there’s plenty of time to catch some performances.

50 bands will perform, including upcoming talents and renowned musicians, playing a selection of improvised pieces, classics and new works. Expect everything from big band to electronic jazz to jazz flamenco – there’ll be all kinds of contrasts. The concerts take place every night at 8pm at Teatro La Libélula Dorada. As for tickets? Get hold of them here (they’re red hot).

So if you’re heading to Bogotá on your (Billie) holiday sometime soon and it’s raining, instead of risking the muddy waters collecting on the streets why not head to Teatro La Libélula Dorada. Who knows, you might just catch the greatest jazz concert ever…
