{"id":8778,"date":"2013-06-14T12:05:27","date_gmt":"2013-06-14T17:05:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/?p=8778"},"modified":"2021-08-23T10:56:02","modified_gmt":"2021-08-23T15:56:02","slug":"top-chef-colombian-edition-guest-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/06\/top-chef-colombian-edition-guest-post\/","title":{"rendered":"Top Chef &#8211; Colombian Edition (Guest Post)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love eating Colombian food.\u00a0\u00a0At home or at restaurants in Miami, it was always easy to find.\u00a0 For the last 10 years I\u2019ve been living in Atlanta and it took some time to find some good Colombian restaurants.\u00a0\u00a0Most of the time here, when I\u2019ve felt the urge, I would go to one close by and sometimes even venture out about 45 minutes away.\u00a0\u00a0For the last year while traveling and working on my documentary, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajourneytocolombia.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Journey to Colombia<\/a>, I&#8217;ve visited many Colombian restaurants around the US.<\/p>\n<p>I came across a few websites that have easy to follow &amp; detailed recipes on Colombian cuisine.\u00a0 I figured how hard could it be? With so many choices, I asked my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/AJourneytoColombia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook page<\/a>\u00a0&amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/JrnytoColombia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0community what I should cook. I got a great response with many suggestions and votes from the poll I placed on Facebook.\u00a0 So with everyone\u2019s help, I decided to make a sancocho de cola and empanadas de carne.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday I went to the Farmer\u2019s Market on Buford Highway in Atlanta.\u00a0 It was my first time there and I must say I was very impressed by the selection and my experience.\u00a0 I\u2019ll definitely be back. It&#8217;s Colombia, not Columbia!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Sunday I woke up early with a slight hangover from my birthday celebration and aguardiente shots. I knew this was going to take some time and\u00a0also wanted to make a video to share with everyone so I had to set up that equipment too.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8782\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8782\" style=\"width: 282px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/06\/top-chef-colombian-edition-guest-post\/imag3038\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8782\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8782\" src=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMAG3038-e1371227455108.jpg\" alt=\"Listo!\" width=\"282\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8782\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Listo!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I must say that everything came out much better than I thought it would especially for being my first attempt at cooking these Colombian dishes.\u00a0 I used the recipes from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mycolombianrecipes.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Colombian Recipes<\/a>\u00a0and highly recommend Erica\u2019s website for anyone who is looking to throw down in the kitchen Colombian style! During the process I spoke with my mom, dad and my cousin Charito in Jersey who provided me with some tips.<\/p>\n<p>It was a lot harder and longer than I expected but it was well worth the experience and once it was done, delicious to sit down to eat something I\u2019d been preparing all day.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking forward to my next Colombian dish.
