{"id":5457,"date":"2012-11-13T13:00:04","date_gmt":"2012-11-13T18:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/?p=5457"},"modified":"2016-05-05T12:13:15","modified_gmt":"2016-05-05T17:13:15","slug":"escaping-bogota-la-mesa-cundinamarca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/11\/escaping-bogota-la-mesa-cundinamarca\/","title":{"rendered":"Escaping Bogot\u00e1 &#8211; La Mesa, Cundinamarca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love <a title=\"Day-Trips from Bogot\u00e1: The Legend of El Dorado, Lake Guatavita\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/10\/day-trips-from-bogota-the-legend-of-el-dorado-lake-guatavita\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bogot\u00e1<\/a>, I love the energy, the buzz in the air, I love the hipsters in <a title=\"Cafes in Bogot\u00e1 \u2013 Casa 53*76\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/10\/cafes-in-bogota-casa-5376\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chapinero<\/a> and the small tiendas, I love sitting in a caf\u00e9 and people watching, I love the public displays of affection, the longboarders riding down the street, the runners on the <a title=\"The Ciclovia, hitting the pavement in Bogot\u00e1\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/10\/ciclovia-hitting-the-pavement-in-bogota\/\" target=\"_blank\">ciclovia<\/a>, the business men in suits licking<a title=\"Top 5 Bogot\u00e1 Desserts \u2013 A Delicious Friday Treat\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/09\/top-5-bogota-desserts\/\" target=\"_blank\"> traditional Colombian ice-creams<\/a>. I love it all.<\/p>\n<p>But sometimes, when the city, the cold weather and the traffic all get a bit too much, I like to have a nice<a title=\"Day-Trips from Bogot\u00e1: The Legend of El Dorado, Lake Guatavita\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/10\/day-trips-from-bogota-the-legend-of-el-dorado-lake-guatavita\/\">\u00a0trip outside Bogot\u00e1<\/a> for the weekend &#8211; to get some sticky weather on my skin, to wear shorts, to see and travel through the Colombian country-side.\u00a0I tend to go to La Mesa, which is about 2 and a bit hours from Bogot\u00e1 by bus.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5466\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5466\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/La-Mesa-Tour-Bogota-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5466\" title=\"The surrounding hills, La Mesa\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/La-Mesa-Tour-Bogota-6.jpg\" alt=\"The surrounding hills, La Mesa\" width=\"960\" height=\"513\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/La-Mesa-Tour-Bogota-6.jpg 960w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/La-Mesa-Tour-Bogota-6-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5466\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The surrounding hills, La Mesa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>La Mesa is about 60km from Bogot\u00e1 and is part of the Cundinamarca department. We\u2019d just spent two days camping in <a title=\"Adventure Travel Colombia \u2013 Tobia\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/10\/adventure-travel-colombia-tobia\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tobia<\/a> but we were ready to extend our trip and hold off on returning back to Bogot\u00e1 for a few more days. We gazed quietly at the sky and watched the moon shine through the light veil of the clouds. \u201cSoon the heavens will open up and we will see the stars,\u201d my Colombian friend said.
