For me, Monserrate is where I look to when I\u2019m lost in the city. At 3,152 metres (10,341ft) above sea level, it\u2019s quite the climb. And if the steepness of the mountain doesn\u2019t get you, the altitude definitely will.<\/p>\n<p>But there are other means of making your way up that don\u2019t involve breaking into a sweat. You can catch the cable railway or funicular and once you get there there\u2019s an impressive but overwhelming view of the sprawling city below. From here, you can really appreciate that this is the third largest city in all of South America.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4883\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4883\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/monserrate2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4883\" title=\"The impressive view of Bogot\u00e1\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/monserrate2.jpg\" alt=\"The impressive view of Bogot\u00e1\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/monserrate2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/monserrate2-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4883\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The impressive view of Bogot\u00e1<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As well as the view, there\u2019s the Monserrate\u2019s Morena Virgin church waiting for you at the top. It was built in 1657 and led by the visionary work of Don Pedro Sol\u00eds.
