Business men walk down busy streets on their way to meetings with ice-creams in their hands and no matter what time of day it is, hot chocolate and cheese always goes down a treat.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I like dessert just as much as the next person but this week I made it my mission to find out what the best desserts of <a title=\"Bogot\u00e1 \" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2011\/12\/only-24-hours-in-bogota-heres-what-to-do-2\/\">Bogot\u00e1<\/a> are. <a title=\"Colombian cuisine\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/06\/an-introduction-to-colombian-cuisine-5-restaurants-in-bogota-to-get-you-started-guest-post\/\">Colombian cuisine<\/a> isn&#8217;t just rice and frijoles, oh no, so after eating on street corners, in restaurants and out of the back of vans, I&#8217;ve come up with Bogot\u00e1&#8217;s top 5 desserts.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4854\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4854\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Merengon1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4854\" title=\"The delicious Mereng\u00f3n\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Merengon1.jpg\" alt=\"The delicious Mereng\u00f3n\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Merengon1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Merengon1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4854\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The delicious Mereng\u00f3n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1>1. Mereng\u00f3n<\/h1>\n<p>It may be because I\u2019m Australian and that Mereng\u00f3n is very similar to our national dessert the Pavlova, but I am a serious fan of this merengue-based dessert. It usually has whipped cream and guanabana but basically you can get it with all different types of fruit on it. Milhojas<\/h1>\n<p>Milhojas is a deliciously messy crumbly pastry dessert. The name translates to mean \u2018thousand leaves\u2019 because of all the flakey layers of goodness. It\u2019s made with puff pastry which is then filled with cream, dulce de leche and arequipe. Cuajada con melao<\/h1>\n<p>Cuajada con melao means curd with molasses and that is exactly what it is &#8211; cow\u2019s milk curd with a panela syrup. Leche asada<\/h1>\n<p>This is Colombia\u2019s answer to the flan. Obleas<\/h1>\n<p>Now you\u2019ve no doubt seen vendors selling obleas on street corners. They\u2019re pretty much the perfect quick cold-climate dessert. It\u2019s basically like an ice-cream but without the ice-cream, are you following me? There are two round pieces of wafer and in the middle they\u2019re coated with anything from arequipe and crema de leche to strawberry jam and pineapple.
