Restaurants are preparing tables for two, wineries are stocking up and <a href=\"http:\/\/kharismafloral.net\" target=\"_blank\">florists in Colombia<\/a> are doubling up on red roses. We at the <a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\" target=\"_blank\">Colombia Travel Blog<\/a>\u00a0aren&#8217;t doing anything special yet, but we&#8217;re noticing a certain amount of romance is seeping through onto our Friday playlists.<\/p>\n<p>So, in honour of Amor y Amistad, we present to you 5 Colombian songs that&#8217;ll get you in the mood for romance.<\/p>\n<h3>5. (Unknown) &#8211; Noches de Cartagena<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qb6mwaVP3z0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Oh, this old song? It&#8217;s just an old favourite of mine I play from time to time. Nothing special. Oh, you recognise it but it sounds different? It was more popular as a salsa, but I actually prefer this version. I feel it&#8217;s more authentic, you know? You can really feel this guy&#8217;s love for Cartagena and the woman in the song. You almost feel transported to the city itself. Really great stuff. You like it? Here, have some more wine.<\/p>\n<p>You suave little monkey, you.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Joe Arroyo &#8211; Sabre Olvidar<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QY4rH_YPZvA\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Thought you&#8217;d get away from salsa, did you? Think again my friend. Think about where you are and the one thing that Colombians love even more than arepas. Yup, salsa. And if there&#8217;s one man than embodies everything good about Colombian salsa, it&#8217;s El Joe. Although it&#8217;s about lost love, this one&#8217;s still good for Valentines Day since it&#8217;s sentimental and you can (or will have to) dance to impress you soon-to-be-once-you-play-this-list Colombian Valentine.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. Jorge Celedon &#8211; No Podran Seperarnos<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f8XpM7ZofRM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>On my trip to <a title=\"Accommodation in Mompox, Colombia: The Beautiful, Relaxing Casa Amarilla\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/07\/accommodation-in-mompox-colombia-the-beautiful-relaxing-casa-amarilla\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mompox<\/a> this year I had the misfortune of sharing a ride with a guy that loved vallenato. I mean, he really loved it. He shouted along all the words to every song and no matter hard I tried, I just couldn&#8217;t sleep thanks to his less than dulcet tones. Nonetheless, thanks to him listening to this song about 10 times, it stuck in my head. Grab a guaro, grab your partner, and sway.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Carlos Vives &#8211; La Cartera<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_7lbWhRA-z0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Absolutely essential. Carlos Vives is the stuff of legend in Colombia. Taking influence from all kinds of traditional Colombian music, he embodies what Colombian pop should sound like. Another one that might get your valentina up on their feet in order for a dance, but hey, you&#8217;re in Colombia, did you expect anything different?! Time to bring out the Aguadiente.<\/p>\n<h3>1. Diomedes Diaz &#8211; Oye Bonita<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LgJD9fX0gKs\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re not suggesting you get them drunk as a tactic, but if you do happen to sip too many Aguardientes or drink that second bottle of wine, this song is where you go. Heed my advice. There&#8217;s nothing a tipsy Colombian loves more than vallenato, and this song is perfect to maintain the romantic mood.
