Here, colonial charm meets relaxation and fine-dining, making it a great place to spend a long weekend or a few days away from the city.<\/p>\n<p>One of the best times to <a title=\"Q &amp; A Fridays: Marcela\u2019s Bogot\u00e1 and Amazon Itinerary\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/tours\/villa-de-leyva\/\" target=\"_blank\">travel to Villa de Leyva<\/a> is around Christmas, when the streets are lit by Christmas lights and the atmosphere in the town is especially enchanting. One of the highlights of the calender is the <a title=\"FROM THE ARCHIVES: The beautiful Noche de Las Velitas in Bogot\u00e1\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2011\/11\/from-the-archives-the-beautiful-noche-de-las-velitas-in-bogota\/\" target=\"_blank\">Noche de Las Velitas<\/a>, which takes place on the 7th of December every year.<\/p>\n<p>Our friend, traveler and teacher Lachlan Page, visited Villa de Leyva this past week, just in time for the Noche de Las Velitas. He was kind enough to take some photos of the night for us.
