It&#8217;s actually bigger than, for instance, the Machu Picchu National Park in Peru.<\/p>\n<p>So, with this in mind, we thought we&#8217;d take the opportunity to give you some more details on San Agustin Archaeological Park:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1647\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1647\" style=\"width: 375px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/4155788078_7a7639bb9d.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1647\" title=\"San Agustin\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/4155788078_7a7639bb9d.jpg\" alt=\"San Agustin\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/4155788078_7a7639bb9d.jpg 375w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/4155788078_7a7639bb9d-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1647\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">San Agustin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>How to get to San Agustin Archaeological Park<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The closest major town is Neiva, which is in the south of Colombia. If you <a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/\" target=\"_blank\">travel to Bogota<\/a> you can fly with Aires for about US$40 and get there in about 1 hour, or take a bus from Bogota\u2019s bus terminal and enjoy the 326km (6 hours) of beautiful scenery. \u00a0Once there, you need to take another bus, but this time going to Pitalito (212km). When you arrive, take a local bus (US$0,5) or a taxi (US$3) to San Agustin. The bus from Bogota to Neiva costs about US$15 and from Pitalito to San Agustin another US$10.<\/p>\n<p>Entrance fees are: free for kids under, from 7 to 17 years old is COL$5.000 (US$3) and COL$10.000 (US$6) for adults.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1648\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1648\" style=\"width: 333px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/4409128686_1086052144.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1648\" title=\"Ancient sculpture\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/4409128686_1086052144.jpg\" alt=\"Ancient sculpture\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/4409128686_1086052144.jpg 333w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/4409128686_1086052144-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1648\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ancient sculpture<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>What to bring\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nIt takes about 3 hours to complete the park circuit, so I recommend to take with you:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A day pack<br \/>\n&#8211; Plenty of water<br \/>\n&#8211; Sun screen and a hat<br \/>\n&#8211; Walking shoes and light clothes, the average temperature there is 18C.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s there<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apart from the main park \u2013 San Agustin \u2013 there are two more archaeological sites close by.
