UNESCO describes it as &#8220;an exceptional example of <strong>a sustainable and productive cultural landscape that is unique and representative of a tradition<\/strong> that is a strong symbol for coffee growing areas worldwide.&#8221; I couldn&#8217;t have put it better myself&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally encompassing the departments of <strong>Quindio, Caldas and Risaralda (UNESCO include Valle del Cauca in their definition),<\/strong> the Colombian Coffee Triangle is a popular destination for visitors on account of it&#8217;s stunning countryside, <strong>fascinating cultural heritage and, of course, top-notch coffee.<\/strong> Traveling through this landscape can leave you feeling as if you&#8217;ve stepped into a different time; there is a sleepy, traditional atmosphere to many of the small towns which<strong> makes the Coffee Triangle a Colombian highlight for many of the people who visit it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3924\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3924\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/05\/colombia-pictures-day-7-off-2-colombia\/chinchina-finca-coffee-9\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3924\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3924\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/chinchina-finca-coffee-9.jpg\" alt=\"Chinchina Coffee Finca\" width=\"800\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/chinchina-finca-coffee-9.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/chinchina-finca-coffee-9-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3924\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chinchina Coffee Finca<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The highlight is, of course, coffee. Visitors to the Coffee Triangle can <strong>spend time on working coffee plantations and learn all about the process<\/strong> and the conditions that make Colombian coffee arguably the best in the world. These coffee\u00a0<em>haciendas\u00a0<\/em>are normally beautiful places, <strong>set in the rolling green hills of the Andean countryside, surrounded by fields and rivers, and coffee naturally.<\/strong> Guests can be involved in the whole process; from picking the beans, selecting the best ones, grinding, roasting&#8230;all the way through to tasting<strong> a delicious hot cup of Colombia&#8217;s finest product.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4583\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4583\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/08\/travel-to-colombias-beautiful-coffee-triangle-pereira\/5054438735_1457b035fd_z\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4583\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4583\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/5054438735_1457b035fd_z.jpg\" alt=\"Los Nevados National Park\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/5054438735_1457b035fd_z.jpg 640w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/5054438735_1457b035fd_z-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4583\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The stunning Los Nevados National Park, picture by Triangulo del Caf\u00e9<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you come for the coffee, however, you&#8217;ll stay for the landscape! This region encompasses some of Colombia&#8217;s most naturally diverse and beautiful areas. The <strong>Los Nevados National Park near Manizales<\/strong> in Caldas department is a particular highlight: <strong>gorgeous, snow-capped volcanos, unique Andean wildlife, and wonderful hiking<\/strong> make this national park one of Colombia&#8217;s most popular.<\/p>\n<p>Or how about<strong> the Cocora Valley, near to pretty little town of Salento in Quindio<\/strong>? This valley is home to thousands of Quindio Wax Palms, Colombia&#8217;s national tree. This natural park is unlike anything else in the region, as a visitor can feel like they&#8217;re i<strong>n the Amazon one minute and the Andes the next,<\/strong> as howler monkeys, tapir and spectacled bears rub shoulders with pine trees and giant Andean peaks.
