Bogota is a great city for tourists; filled with world-class museums, classic colonial architecture, creative and unusual tours<\/strong>, and surrounded by amazing hiking and climbing, Colombia’s capital is a great place to spend a few days on your visit to the country. It’s also the place to be on a Sunday<\/strong>, when the city’s roads close off in vast swathes to accommodate cyclists and dog-walkers, and the Sunday markets open their (often metaphorical) doors to a huge array of punters, looking for everything from food to artesanal crafts.<\/strong> So, in no particular order, are the Colombia Travel Blog’s Top 5 Bogota Sunday markets:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Usaquen<\/strong><\/p>\n

Billed as a flea market, but really a much more upscale affair, the Usaquen Sunday market is perhaps Bogota’s most well-known market<\/strong>. Set in a gorgeous little suburb of the city in the north, Usaquen is an all-round market experience, with excellent bars and restaurants on pretty, flower-laden streets<\/strong>, filled with stalls selling beautiful crafts, clothing and Colombian trinkets. It’s a bit pricier than some markets, but it’s the perfect place for a complete Sunday out.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. San Alejo Flea Market<\/strong><\/p>\n

A true flea-market, this one<\/strong>! Just off the Septima, and taking up a large square space, San Alejo is the perfect place to find everything…and nothing at the same time!<\/strong> A real hustle-and-bustle Sunday market, you can find old vinyl records, thousands of pairs of vintage glasses frames, black-and-white movie posters from the 60s and generally enough random old stuff to make your inner hipster salivate<\/strong> with anticipation…<\/p>\n

3. Paloquemao<\/strong><\/p>\n

The foodies Sunday market. Paloquemao is Bogota’s premier food market<\/strong>, with vendors selling thousands of items, from fresh fruit and veg, to meat and seafood. The onsite food stalls and restaurants make this a real paradise for the hungrier Sunday shopper<\/strong>. For tourists, it’s a great chance to sample a broad range of Colombian favourites in one place.<\/p>\n

4. San Andresito<\/strong><\/p>\n

More of a permanent market area, San Andresito comes alive on a Sunday<\/strong>. This is the place to really spend, spend, spend! A more commercial option, San Andresito features electronic goods, fashionable clothing, and replica football shirts<\/strong> (and much, much more besides). Maybe not the most traditional market going, but a good place to stock up on clothes and try your hand at bargaining…<\/strong><\/p>\n

5. Cafe Cultor & Impact Hub Sunday Market<\/strong><\/p>\n

A little personal choice this one…Every Sunday, the little square in front of Bogota’s Impact Hub hosts an intimate little market, with stalls selling craft beers, vegan snacks, and lovely handmade crafts.<\/strong> With the excellent Cafe Cultor onsite, you can enjoy this with a wonderful cup o’joe at the same time. The uber-hipster Bogota Sunday market choice<\/strong>, but a nice relaxing, and friendly one.<\/p>\n
