This year the festival takes place between <strong>Wednesday 10 &#8211; Sunday 14 of September in a variety of locations<\/strong>, including Universidad de los Andes and the Cuban Jazz Cafe. The main festival lineup takes places on <strong>Saturday and Sunday (13th &amp; 14th) in Parque el Country<\/strong> (Calle 127C #11D), and features a range of live performers from all over the world, representing all styles of jazz. It promises to be<strong> a wonderful celebration of the art of jazz.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16130\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16130\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/09\/bogota-jazz-al-parque-2014\/jazz-al-parque-lineup-2014\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-16130\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16130\" src=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jazz-al-Parque-Lineup-2014.jpg\" alt=\"Jazz al Parque Lineup 2014\" width=\"800\" height=\"623\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jazz-al-Parque-Lineup-2014.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jazz-al-Parque-Lineup-2014-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16130\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jazz al Parque Lineup 2014<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The earlier days of the festival feature <strong>smaller concerts from some featured bands<\/strong> in various auditoriums and cafes around the city of Bogota, and offer the chance for the jazz aficionado to take in some <strong>excellent live music in a more intimate setting.<\/strong> For me, jazz is a genre than works best in small, intimate venues, so <strong>Thursday&#8217;s show at the Cuban Jazz Cafe by Redil Cuarteto and Los Petit Fellas<\/strong> promises to a great evening.<\/p>\n<p>The main event moves on to the eponymous park, and this is when the real &#8216;festival&#8217; gets going: with <strong>live acts onstage from midday to 9pm<\/strong>, the show features <strong>16 live jazz acts<\/strong>, and the best part is&#8230;<strong>it&#8217;s totally free!<\/strong> The princely sum of 0.00 pesos for all the live jazz you could desire! Highlights include live performances from <strong>Big Band Bogota, Cassandra Wilson, Curupira, Quantum and, best of all (I think&#8230;), David Murray feat. MACY GRAY!<\/strong> I didn&#8217;t even know she was still touring! Back on topic, the weather in Bogota is a little wet and drizzly at the moment, so <strong>I&#8217;d recommend packing a raincoat<\/strong> (however, being Bogota, it could change in a heartbeat, so<strong> bring some sun block<\/strong> for the possibility of blue skies as well).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16129\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16129\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/09\/bogota-jazz-al-parque-2014\/jazz-al-parque-bogota\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-16129\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16129\" src=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jazz-al-Parque-Bogota.jpg\" alt=\"Jazz al Parque Bogota\" width=\"800\" height=\"532\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jazz-al-Parque-Bogota.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Jazz-al-Parque-Bogota-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16129\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The crowd and stage at Jazz al Parque<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All in all, it promises to be <strong>a great week for jazz in Bogota<\/strong>, and proves the existing commitment of the powers-that-be to showcasing <strong>less commercially viable forms of music<\/strong> in the nation&#8217;s capital.
