And the best part of it is&#8230;<strong>Bourdain loves Colombia;<\/strong> so much so that he&#8217;s visited here twice to film episodes of his wonderful TV shows\u00a0<em>No Reservations\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Parts Unknown<\/em>. During those episodes he <strong>played\u00a0<em>tejo\u00a0<\/em>with Ondatropica, rode ATVs in La Guajira, flew into the deep jungle in a tiny little plane and drank numerous shots of aguardiente.<\/strong> But mainly he ate. He ate a lot. Tabula &amp; Paloquemao &#8211; Bogota<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bourdain hung out in Bogota with <strong>Tomas Rueda, the young, experimental head-chef of Tabula<\/strong> (Cll 29 Bis # 5-90), a popular restaurant in La Macarena, which creates wonderfully detailed Colombian-style meals. First they <strong>went food shopping in Paloquemao<\/strong> (Cl. 19 # 25-04), a huge market, which is particularly worth a visit on a Sunday. There are little food stalls in the market serving hot meals, and the variety of fruits is quite astounding.<strong> A real foodies paradise<\/strong>. As for Tabulla: make a reservation and try the\u00a0<em>Osso Buco&#8230;<\/em>Bourdain loved it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4211\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4211\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/07\/5-places-to-go-in-bogota-that-you-wont-find-in-your-guidebook\/paloquemao-indoor\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4211\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4211\" src=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/paloquemao-indoor.jpg\" alt=\"Paloquemao (photo courtesy of Off2Colombia\" width=\"800\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/paloquemao-indoor.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/paloquemao-indoor-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4211\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Paloquemao (photo courtesy of Off2Colombia)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0Sevicher\u00eda Guapi &#8211; Cali<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This<strong> little neighborhood ceviche place in Cali<\/strong> is where Bourdain hung out with Quantic and Ondatropica after a game of tejo (at a place called Club Social Los Amigos &#8211;\u00a0Calle 49 \/ 8A-23), and it certainly merits the recommendations. I started with the <strong>traditional Colombian ceviche (made with a ketchup\/mayonnaise sauce)<\/strong>, and then had a fried\u00a0<em>pargo rojo\u00a0<\/em>(red snapper) dish with fried plantain. Restaurante Mar Azul, Mayapo, la Guajira<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After a hair-raising ATV accident, Senor Bourdain cools off here, a little Guajira-style shack by the sea, with a few cold beers, some\u00a0<em>guaro<\/em>, and a<strong> delicious looking\u00a0<em>cazuela de mariscos\u00a0<\/em>(a kind of fish stew)<\/strong>. La Puerta Falsa, Bogota<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Monday I called it my favorite restaurant in Bogota, and it seems I&#8217;m in good company! Bourdain ate here in La Candelaria with <strong>celebrated Colombian author Hector Abad<\/strong> to discuss Colombia&#8217;s violent history. Anywhere that serves a good\u00a0<em>bandeja paisa&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Antioquia staple: <strong>a hearty mixture of beans, rice, egg, meat and avocado<\/strong>, proves a complete hit with our Anthony, and he eats a few during his time in Medellin and Colombia.
