It&#8217;s a tough task because Mexico City is not only one of the biggest cities in the world, <strong>it&#8217;s also probably one of Latin America&#8217;s most interesting capital cities, which deserves much more than &#8216;just a few days.&#8217;<\/strong> So here is that list; incomplete, completely subjective, and reduced from an initial 18 places to just 5 (there&#8217;ll be room for those in a future post). In the middle of Avenida Reforma (an attraction in itself), The Angel of Independence, although not known by name to many outside Mexico, is <strong>an iconic structure that immediately tells you you&#8217;re in this enormous city.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2. The National Palace with its Diego Rivera murals, and the Mexican Cathedral are just two of the must-see spots in the Zocalo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong> 3.The Mexica Room of the National Anthropology Museum <\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12214\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12214\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/11\/blog-de-viajes-mexico-5-lugares-imperdibles-si-estas-en-ciudad-de-mexico\/museo-nacional-de-antropologia-mexico-blog-de-viajes\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12214\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12214\" alt=\"Blog de Viajes Museo Antropolog\u00eda M\u00e9xico sale Mexica blog de viajes\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Museo-Nacional-de-Antropologia-Mexico-blog-de-viajes.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Museo-Nacional-de-Antropologia-Mexico-blog-de-viajes.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Museo-Nacional-de-Antropologia-Mexico-blog-de-viajes-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12214\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Impressive \u00a0Mexica room at Mexico&#8217;s National Anthropology Museum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Discovering the wealth of magnificent pieces housed in this museum at your leisure would take at least two or three days. For me, a lover of museums, the <strong>National Anthropology Museum of Mexico is one of the most interesting in the world.<\/strong> The centre of the space is occupied by the impressive Mexica Room, which contains the most important collection of Aztec cultural artefacts in the world. There are no words to describe the sheer size and scale of this museum. Early in the 20th Century this neighbourhood, right next to the prestigious and no-less-interesting Condesa, began to fill up with upper class citizens leaving the city centre in search of pastures new. <strong>With a great deal of Art Deco influence on its architecture,<\/strong> nowadays Colonia Roma is the home of bookstores, cafes, parks, cultural centres <strong>and a bohemian atmosphere that invites you to explore it&#8217;s dozens of captivating street corners.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong> 5.The UNAM Murals <\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12219\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12219\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/11\/blog-de-viajes-mexico-5-lugares-imperdibles-si-estas-en-ciudad-de-mexico\/mural-unam-siqueiros-blog-de-viajes\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12219\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12219\" alt=\"Murales UNAM Siqueiros\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Mural-UNAM-Siqueiros-Blog-de-Viajes.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Mural-UNAM-Siqueiros-Blog-de-Viajes.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Mural-UNAM-Siqueiros-Blog-de-Viajes-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12219\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The mipressive Juan O&#8217;Gorman&#8217;s mural at \u00a0the Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another icon (that makes three!), and not only of the city but of the whole country,<strong> is the gigantic mural in the Central Library of la Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico<\/strong> by Juan O&#8217;Gorman, who collected around 150 stones of different colours from all over the country and spent two years completing.
