{"id":14763,"date":"2014-05-09T11:29:33","date_gmt":"2014-05-09T16:29:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/?p=14763"},"modified":"2016-03-30T16:17:28","modified_gmt":"2016-03-30T21:17:28","slug":"salsa-al-parque-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/05\/salsa-al-parque-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Bogota&#8217;s 17th Annual Salsa Al Parque"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>We all love salsa, right?<\/strong> There&#8217;s nothing like hearing that rhythm, shaking those hips, and, if you&#8217;re anything like me, invariably ending up <strong>looking like a total fool<\/strong>&#8230;Well, luckily for the likes of me, this weekend sees two whole days of salsa action heading to Bogota&#8217;s Parque Simon Bolivar, as the <strong>17th Annual Salsa al Parque rolls into town<\/strong> (although, thinking about it, glides or shimmies into town might be more appropriate).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13782\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13782\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/03\/salsa-in-colombia\/gringos-salsa\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13782\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13782\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gringos-Salsa.jpg\" alt=\"Gringos Salsa\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gringos-Salsa.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Gringos-Salsa-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13782\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Imagine this&#8230;but in a park!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Part of <strong>Bogota&#8217;s &#8216;Month of Music&#8217; or &#8216;Festival of Festivals&#8217;<\/strong> (look out for a post on that next week), Salsa al Parque does pretty much exactly what you&#8217;d think it would: <strong>a bunch of quality salsa musicians<\/strong>, playing loads of spicy, flaming-hot salsa&#8230;drum roll, please&#8230;in the park. <strong>Parque Simon Bolivar has been hosting these events for years now<\/strong>: Rock al Parque, Jazz al Parque, Hip-Hop al Parque; most of the major genres are represented. Let&#8217;s just say I won&#8217;t take them seriously until I start seeing flyers for &#8216;Experimental Hardcore al Parque&#8217;: I&#8217;d even pay to see that one&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s because, as you may have guessed, <strong>all of these brilliant live music events are absolutely, 100% gratis<\/strong> (that means free by the way). Two whole days of salsa, featuring hundreds of musicians, and <strong>around 20 live acts, for absolutely zero pesos<\/strong>. You can&#8217;t really argue with their pricing structure, can you?! Now, if we can just get the notoriously capricious Bogota weather to play ball for the weekend, we&#8217;re on easy street.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14764\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14764\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/05\/salsa-al-parque-2014\/programme-for-salsa-al-parque\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14764\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14764\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Programme-for-Salsa-al-Parque.jpg\" alt=\"Programme for Salsa al Parque\" width=\"800\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Programme-for-Salsa-al-Parque.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Programme-for-Salsa-al-Parque-300x240.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14764\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This year&#8217;s programme for Salsa al Parque<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Salsa Fest features live performances from the likes of <strong>La M\u00e1s Orquesta, Juan Carlos Ensamble, Grupo Niche<\/strong>, and, most exciting of all, a Saturday headline slot from a Salsa All-Stars combo group, featuring such names as<strong> Ismael Miranda, Oscar de Leon, Rey Ruiz, and Mauro Castillo<\/strong>. It promises to be a one-stop-shop for salsa good-times.<\/p>\n<p>So shimmy on down to Simon Bolivar tomorrow and Sunday, and <strong>enjoy some of the world&#8217;s finest salsa<\/strong>, courtesy of some of its finest musicians, in the company of <strong>several thousand dance-loving Bogotanos<\/strong>.
