The festival will run for two weeks between April 29 and May 12, and <strong>takes place in Corferias<\/strong>, a large convention centre in the neighbourhood of Quintaparedes (Corferias address: Cra. 37 #24-67). Since the fair began in 1988 it has risen steadily in popularity, and it is estimated that <strong>somewhere in the region of 450,000 people will attend FILBO 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every year the fair nominates a different country as the guest of honour, and <strong>this year the privilege belongs to Peru.<\/strong> There will be special exhibitions highlighting the countries&#8217; cultural and literary history and contributions; not only that, but <strong>legendary Nobel Prize winning author, Mario Vargas Llosa,<\/strong> will be present, representing his country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1191\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1191\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2011\/08\/english-bookshop-in-bogota-colombia-authors\/gabriel-garcia-marquez\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1191\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1191\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Gabriel-Garci\u0301a-Ma\u0301rquez.jpg\" alt=\"Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Gabriel-Garci\u0301a-Ma\u0301rquez.jpg 450w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Gabriel-Garci\u0301a-Ma\u0301rquez-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Gabriel-Garci\u0301a-Ma\u0301rquez-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1191\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gabriel Garcia Marquez will be heavily represented at FILBo 2014<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The fair will also, following his sad death earlier this month, serve as <strong>a literary tribute to perhaps Latin America&#8217;s most well-known author, Colombia&#8217;s own Gabriel Garcia Marquez<\/strong>.
