I absolutely love teaching, I really do, but <strong>my first love is always going to be travel.<\/strong> Before Colombia <strong>I was working in China and travelling around South-East Asia; I\u2019ve also worked in the United States, Mexico and Italy.<\/strong> I absolutely loved living in China and backpacking in Asia but <strong>Colombia is a different world.<\/strong> The pace of life here is different, <strong>people are so open and friendly<\/strong> and I already feel so settled here.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14495\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14495\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/04\/new-intern\/jess-and-a-donkey\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14495\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14495\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Jess-and-a-donkey.jpg\" alt=\"Jess and a donkey\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Jess-and-a-donkey.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Jess-and-a-donkey-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14495\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Feeling slightly nervous alongside a donkey&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At university <strong>we were always pushed to <i>network, network, network<\/i>,<\/strong> so when I saw Editor Chris looking for an apartment on a Bogota forum I (only slightly creepily) messaged him asking about his path taken into the glamorous world of travel writing. <strong>He told me about the internship with See Colombia<\/strong>, a hasty CV was cobbled together and <strong>now I find myself working for Colombia\u2019s premier travel blog!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i>Minor facebook stalking : 1 &#8211; Trawling through internet job adverts : 0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14496\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14496\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/04\/new-intern\/jess-getting-colombian\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14496\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14496\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Jess-getting-Colombian.jpg\" alt=\"Jess getting Colombian\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Jess-getting-Colombian.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Jess-getting-Colombian-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14496\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stay off the roads&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, basically <strong>I chose Colombia for the language, the lifestyle, the people<\/strong> and of course to experience a culture completely different from mine.
