I was lucky enough to work as an intern (and general dogsbody to previous editor Paul) for See Colombia in 2012, and loved the experience so much that I&#8217;m coming back full-time &#8211; to the team and to Colombia. <strong>I spent one year living in Bogot\u00e1<\/strong> between 2011 and 2012; I left with a heavy-heart, but I knew I&#8217;d be back. I have used the time between then and now studying for a Masters in Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Studies, with a particular focus on Colombia&#8217;s Pacific Coast region, and the urban regeneration of Medell\u00edn.<strong> I also managed to squeeze in 3 months backpacking in\u00a0 South East Asia<\/strong> &#8211; I mean, a travel-blogger has to stay match-fit, right?!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13653\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13653\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/02\/back-in-colombia\/meeting-gabo-in-colombia\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13653\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13653\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Meeting-Gabo-in-Colombia.jpg\" alt=\"Gabo Colombia\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Meeting-Gabo-in-Colombia.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Meeting-Gabo-in-Colombia-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13653\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The closest I&#8217;ll get to meeting a Colombian hero<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working for See Colombia gave me so many great opportunities and experiences<\/strong> in the short few months that I graced it&#8217;s venerable (and sadly metaphorical) hallways. Amongst the most memorable were having one hour to compile <a href=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/04\/happy-80th-birthday-fernando-botero-80-facts-about-botero-for-his-80th-birthday\/\" target=\"_blank\">a list of 80 facts about Fernando Botero<\/a> for the maestro&#8217;s 80th birthday celebrations (really not as easy as it sounds), and <a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/05\/colombian-cuisine-paul-chris-eat-ants-among-other-things\/\" target=\"_blank\">taking to the streets of Chapinero to consume ants<\/a>, cheese and ice cream (together!) and other Colombian culinary quirks for a hands-on blog post. Above all, the experience that stands out was the chance to help spread the word about the <strong>beauty and diversity of this wonderful country<\/strong>, and work with some inspiring and passionate individuals equally committed to the task. I&#8217;m so grateful and excited to be back on board.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13679\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13679\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/02\/back-in-colombia\/futbol-match-in-colombia\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13679\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13679\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Futbol-Match-in-Colombia.jpg\" alt=\"Football Match Colombia\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Futbol-Match-in-Colombia.jpg 800w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Futbol-Match-in-Colombia-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13679\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A football match in La Guajira, Colombia &#8211; guess who won?!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I was fortunate to have been able to travel all around Colombia during my previous year here &#8211; particular highlights include <a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/05\/vive-pazifico-travel-in-colombia-off-the-beaten-track-in-el-choco\/\" target=\"_blank\">whale-watching in El Choc\u00f3<\/a>,<strong> rolling down giant sand-dunes into the Caribbean in La Guajira<\/strong>, and getting my <i>llanero <\/i>on whilst horse-riding in Casanare. However, there remains a wealth of locations left to explore &#8211; my personal Colombia bucket-list is missing ticks for salsa capital Cali, the red waters of Ca\u00f1o Cristales, and adventure sports hotspot San Gil. And that&#8217;s just the tip of the iceberg. <strong>There really is something for everyone in this country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, it&#8217;s being back at See Colombia Travel that I&#8217;m most excited about, and getting on with the mission at hand: <strong>spreading the word about Colombia, it&#8217;s magnificent diversity, and it&#8217;s delightful inhabitants. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chris<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; \u00a1Hola a todos!
