The weather here is unique owing to the large variety of high dry temperatures all year round; this is mainly due to its position within the Torrid Zone and thanks to the 3 Andean branches that cross it. The great variety of temperatures within the Colombian<\/a> weather has an influence in the local flora and fauna.<\/p>\n

It can be said that the presence of the 3 Andean branches crossing Colombia from South to North constitutes the way on how a traveler could enjoy all types of temperatures of the earth in one place. That is why you can go from one extreme hot and dry desert like the Guajira to the snow caped\/glacier mountains of La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta within a couple of thousand meters. The temperature up in the Andean mountains increases or decreases about 6\u00baC every 1000 meters forming what is called the Thermal Layers, determining the type of climate and temperature of a certain destinations; it can also affect the temperatures at day and night. For example cities such as Bogota<\/a> could show temperatures of up to 23\u00b0 C during a sunny the day and down to 0\u00b0C at night.<\/p>\n
