There are just <strong>too many memorable and incredible things that I have seen and experienced<\/strong> in this country of wonders that it would almost be rude to choose only one.<\/p>\n<p>Living and travelling in Colombia is an experience that <strong>constantly throws up surprises<\/strong> and never fails to keep you busy and entertained. I could go on for hours here about the weekend finca trips with friends (although I\u2019d have to remember what happened first), the endless <strong>people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome<\/strong> and safe, the Lebanese bakery in <a title=\"Bogot\u00e1 to Beirut by Bus \u2013 Maicao, Colombia\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/05\/bogota-to-beirut-by-bus-maicao-colombia\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maicao<\/a> where I was treated like a long-lost son, <strong>the time I played football with some wayuu kids<\/strong> at the end of the world or with a bunch of ripped Afro-Colombians on the <a title=\"From the Vault: \u201cColombia\u2019s Pacific coast \u2013 a diamond in the rough\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/11\/from-the-vault-colombias-pacific-coast-a-diamond-in-the-rough\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pacific coast<\/a>, the moment I thought to myself \u201chey, <a title=\"Aguardiente \u2013 Colombia\u2019s inexplicable obsession\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/02\/aguardiente-colombias-inexplicable-obsession\/\" target=\"_blank\">this aguardiente stuff<\/a> isn\u2019t quite as bad as I always make out\u201d, <a title=\"7 Arabs come to Colombia\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/08\/7-arabs-come-to-colombia\/\" target=\"_blank\">showing my family around my adopted home<\/a>. Colombia\u2019s quirks and oddities have also given me some amusing, interesting and downright hilarious moments, but perhaps most surprising to me is that <strong>these have become a part of me<\/strong> and are no longer seen as strange, rather they are the norm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13019\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13019\" style=\"width: 277px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/01\/azzams-greatest-colombian-moment\/azzam-in-filandia\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13019\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-13019  \" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Azzam-in-Filandia.jpg\" alt=\"It took me a while to realise that Eduardo wasn't real..\" width=\"277\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Azzam-in-Filandia.jpg 395w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Azzam-in-Filandia-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 277px) 100vw, 277px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13019\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It took me a while to realise that Eduardo wasn&#8217;t real..<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Colombia has some<strong> phenomenal landscapes and incredible sights<\/strong> that leave me with startlingly vivid memories \u2013 canoeing down a river in the middle of the Choc\u00f3 jungle, abseiling down a waterfall in Villeta, losing myself in history in the <a title=\"Magical Realism in Mompox , Colombia\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/11\/magical-realism-in-mompox\/\" target=\"_blank\">time-warp town of Mompox<\/a>, enduring <strong>a bunch of monkeys on my head in the Amazo<\/strong>n, paragliding in the Chicamocha Canyon, being blown away time after time by Medellin, <strong>eating ants in Santander<\/strong>, horse-riding in the Cocora Valley, getting my salsa on in Cali\u2019s bars, eerily apocalyptic winds in <a title=\"The hidden wonders of La Guajira\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/09\/the-hidden-wonders-of-la-guajira\/\" target=\"_blank\">La Guajira<\/a>. I could seriously go on all day, but I know you all have things to do.<\/p>\n<p>The point is that <strong>Colombia has given me so many of the greatest moments of my life<\/strong>, all of which are great for different reasons, whether it\u2019s for the sheer beauty of the scenery, the richness and intrigue of the culture and history, the friends I\u2019ve made or simply the outrageous amount of fun that I&#8217;ve had.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13020\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13020\" style=\"width: 285px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2014\/01\/azzams-greatest-colombian-moment\/azzam-estereo-picnic\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13020\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-13020 \" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Azzam-Estereo-Picnic.jpg\" alt=\"Festival fashion - Azzam at Estereo Picnic\" width=\"285\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Azzam-Estereo-Picnic.jpg 407w, https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Azzam-Estereo-Picnic-174x300.jpg 174w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 285px) 100vw, 285px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13020\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Festival fashion &#8211; Azzam at Estereo Picnic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But if I had to pick out just one moment, my greatest moment in Colombia, it would have to be <strong>the moment I decided to stay in Bogot\u00e1 to live<\/strong>, almost two years ago. Without that moment, none of the other phenomenal things would ever have happened to me.
