This involves charting a sailboat via Panama’s San Blas islands before landing in the beautiful, enchanting city of Cartagena. Finding a boat isn’t hard since several run the route and are open and willing to help backpackers (in exchange for a little money, of course!). Additionally, if you’re staying in a hostel they will undoubtedly be in contact with someone who can take you.

The boat will sail past (and stop on) some incredible islands, most almost empty aside from coral, palm trees and golden sands. You’ll spend around 3 days (depending on the boat) relaxing in the islands as the crew do… whatever it is they do. You can catch up on the sun, read, relax and reflect.

Cartagena

After this the boat will set sail again, this time for Cartagena where your journey ends.
