But that wasn&#8217;t the only exciting development of 2013 &#8211; here&#8217;s <strong>our round-up of the main events to go down at See Colombia Travel<\/strong> this year. May 2014 bring some more of the same!<\/p>\n<h2>January<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4874\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4874\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/09\/getting-lost-a-four-day-trek-to-la-ciudad-perdida-sierra-nevada\/528693_10150951707675951_2080525765_n\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4874\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4874\" src=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/528693_10150951707675951_2080525765_n-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Sarah at La Ciudad Perdida\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4874\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sarah at La Ciudad Perdida<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At the end of January we launched the <strong>new and improved layout for the See Colombia Travel Blog<\/strong>. It was also a busy month for Sarah, who not only took on<a title=\"The Ruta Mutis \u2013 Jungle jaunts, cultural heritage sites and the Magdalena River\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/01\/the-ruta-mutis-jungle-jaunts-cultural-heritage-sites-and-the-magdalena-river\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the adventure of the Ruta Mutis<\/a>, but she also appeared on TV. We were nominated for a Bloggie for Best Travel Blog in Latin America and we appeared on <strong>popular Colombian TV show &#8216;Como en Casa&#8217;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>February<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4117\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4117\" style=\"width: 662px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/06\/trip-report-from-la-guajira-hint-it-was-really-really-great\/img_8132\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4117\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-4117\" src=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_8132-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Fowler at Punta Gallinas\" width=\"662\" height=\"440\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4117\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Paul at Punta Gallinas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This month saw us <a title=\"500 Reasons We Love Colombia (Our 500th Post!)\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/02\/500-reasons-we-love-colombia-our-500th-post\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">publish our 500th post<\/a>, in which we detailed 500 reasons why we foreigners love Colombia so much. Paul shared his experiences of <a title=\"Paul Celebrates 2 Years Living in Colombia (Photos)\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/02\/paul-celebrates-2-years-living-in-colombia-photos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two years living in Colombia<\/a>, while we began to <strong>work more closely with our friend and partner Toya Viudes<\/strong>, from Colombia de Una. We also attended the Anato Travel Fair.<\/p>\n<h2>March<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/03\/weve-won-a-bloggie-thanks-to-everyone-who-voted\/colombia-bloggies-winner\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7307\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7307\" src=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Colombia-bloggies-winner-1024x679.jpg\" alt=\"Best Latin AMERIcan travel blog\" width=\"662\" height=\"438\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>March was all about the Bloggies. THE NEW INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN OF COLOMBIA.\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/04\/colombia-from-risk-to-magical-realism-the-new-international-campaign-of-colombia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Colombia tourist campaign<\/a>, which replaced &#8216;The Only Risk is Wanting to Stay&#8217; with &#8216;Magical Realism&#8217;. We spent some time reflecting about <strong>what Colombia has taught us<\/strong> and posted our <a title=\"40 Life Lessons We\u2019ve Learnt From Living in Colombia (Part 1)\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/04\/life-lessons-living-in-colombia-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">40 life lessons from living in Colombia<\/a>. Peru&#8217;s top chef, Gaston Acurio, invited us to the opening of his new restaurant in Bogota, El Patio. Lads.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This was a hectic month for Chris, who not only had the opportunity to <a title=\"\u00a1Vive PAZ-ifico!: Travel in Colombia off the beaten track in El Choc\u00f3 (From the archives)\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/05\/vive-pazifico-travel-in-colombia-off-the-beaten-track-in-el-choco-from-the-archives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">take on Choco<\/a>, but who also met none other than<a title=\"#FalcaoFriday: The day I met a Colombian hero\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/05\/falcaofriday-the-day-i-met-a-colombian-hero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Radamel Falcao<\/a>. This month we also <a title=\"To Buy or Not to Buy? A First-Hand Account of Buying Followers on Twitter\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/05\/to-buy-or-not-to-buy-a-first-hand-account-of-buying-followers-on-twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tried buying Twitter followers<\/a> before quickly realising that it wasn&#8217;t the best idea and starting to delete our new, fake followers. We had the opportunity to<strong> meet and interview Luis Eduardo Villamizar<\/strong>, a Colombian American creating a documentary about Colombia and his journey to discover his heritage. JL was also lucky enough to be <strong>whisked away to Chile<\/strong> to share his experience of the blogging world and to impart some of his wisdom. We also appeared on National Geogrpahic television,<\/p>\n<h2>July<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/05\/to-buy-or-not-to-buy-a-first-hand-account-of-buying-followers-on-twitter\/twitterblock\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8570\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-8570\" src=\"https:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/twitterblock.gif\" alt=\"twitterblock\" width=\"480\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>JL and Marcela took a trip up to Palomino where they celebrated <strong>the anniversary of their first trip together<\/strong>. This is also where they discovered Playa La Roca, a fantastic hotel in Palomino. Bienvenue dans l\u2019\u00e9quipe Lydia!\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/08\/welcome-to-the-team-lydia-bienvenue-dans-lequipe-lydia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lydia joined the team<\/a> to add a little French flair to proceedings, while <a title=\"7 delicias culinarias de Colombia para decorar tu mesa en navidad\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/12\/7-delicias-culinarias-de-colombia-para-decorar-tu-mesa-en-navidad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carolina became our resident Colombian<\/a>. We won&#8217;t lie, <a title=\"Why I love Colombia \u2013 a Farewell Letter by Paul\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/10\/why-i-love-colombia-a-farewell-letter-by-paul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his emotional farewell to Colombia<\/a> had us all in tears. Azzam then had to take on the Herculean task of replacing Paul as editor. See Colombia Travel<strong> finalised a partnership with Terra Colombia<\/strong>. JL and Toya were <a title=\"San Agustin: More Easter Island than Machu Picchu\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/10\/san-agustin-more-easter-island-than-machu-picchu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">whisked away to San Agustin<\/a>, where they had the opportunity to get stuck in to the fascinating culture and history of the area. JL and Toya were invited to <strong>Campus Party in Medellin<\/strong> to give a talk about blogging. See Colombia Travel also completed an agreement with Marca Colombia, allowing us to share our mutual knowledge of the travel industry in Colombia. <strong>We reached 5,000 Twitter followers.<\/strong> Argentinian blogger, Laura Lazzarino, shared her experience of Medellin with us. Our former team mate Cathrina was <strong>blessed with a baby<\/strong>, congratulations! At the Twitter Colombia awards, we were proud to be supporting<strong> Luis Villamizar and his Journey to Colombia documentary<\/strong>. JL and Marcela were blown away in Medellin when they were recognised by Sandra, one of our readers, who was recently convinced via a chat to Marcela to return to Colombia. JL&#8217;s blogging and marketing experience once again got him invited abroad to share his knowledge, this time to Mexico. This is where our <strong>&#8216;chiva viajera&#8217;<\/strong> had its first foreign outing. He was also invited by Holiday Inn to Cartagena. Paco Nadal, <strong>Spain&#8217;s most famous travel blogger<\/strong>, visited Colombia and travelled to the Lost City with Toya. Gilesy and Azzam were invited to Antioquia to get to know more about the fascinating history of the region- they visited a number of <a title=\"Antioquia Week: Just Another Colombian Colonial Town?\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/11\/antioquia-week-just-another-colombian-colonial-town\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">small towns<\/a> and <a title=\"Antioquia Week: Colombian Handicrafts\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/11\/antioquia-week-colombian-handicrafts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">handicrafts centres<\/a> and delved <strong>deep into the heart of Antioquia<\/strong>. We were nominated by FITUR for <strong>Best Travel Blog in The Americas<\/strong> and, thanks to all of you, <a title=\"Colombia tiene el mejor blog de viajes de las Am\u00e9ricas. !Gracias a todos!\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2013\/12\/colombia-tiene-el-mejor-blog-de-viajes-de-las-americas-gracias-a-todos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WE WON<\/a>!! In the process we were featured in El Espectador, ADN, on TV with El Tiempo Televison, CityTV, RCN and Como en Casa, and on the radio with Senal Radio Colombia and Blu Radio. In other news, Carolina got the chance to <strong>explore adventure sports in Antioquia<\/strong>.
