It was all new and exciting for me. So I started studying cooking and I loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo make the food was really appealing and <strong>when I started studying I realised it was what I loved.<\/strong> I never went back to teaching languages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Ana Maria arrived back in Bogot\u00e1 she knew she wanted to open up her own space filled with sweet-smelling baked goods, <strong>inspired by the traditional tea and pastry houses or confiterias of Argentina.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew I wanted to own a confiteria. They\u2019re charming. I always describe them like a library, there\u2019s the history section which is chocolate,<strong> the science area which are the cakes<\/strong>. It\u2019s very Italian. That\u2019s what I wanted,\u201d Ana Maria recalls.<\/p>\n<p>When Ana Maria returned to Bogot\u00e1 she started to learn how to use the ingredients at \u00a0Bogota&#8217;s\u00a0high altitude and <strong>would spend any spare change she had on cooking utensils.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Ingredients work differently here in\u00a0Bogot\u00e1\u00a0because of the air pressure<\/strong> so I had to learn about them and how they work here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<dl id=\"attachment_5428\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/baked-by-ana-cupcakes-bogota3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Colourful creations, Baked by Ana, Usaqu\u00e9n\" alt=\"Colourful creations, Baked by Ana, Usaqu\u00e9n\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/baked-by-ana-cupcakes-bogota3.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"395\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAnd if I had a spare $10, I would buy a spatula, or a pan. I had a huge amount of things and when we opened, I already had everything we needed for the kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now\u00a0<strong>Baked by Ana<\/strong>\u00a0is beautiful situated in the trendy\u00a0<a title=\"Where to Go When You Travel to Bogota: Usaquen\" href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/2012\/07\/where-to-go-when-you-travel-to-bogota-usaquen\/\" target=\"_blank\">Usaqu\u00e9n<\/a>\u00a0and the store is stocked with more than <strong>50 varieties of cupcakes<\/strong> which are on rotation with about 15-20 different flavours available each day. But it was at the weekly Usaqu\u00e9n flea market that Ana Maria began selling her cakes.<\/p>\n<div>\n<dl id=\"attachment_5426\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/baked-by-ana-cupcakes-bogota.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Delicious cupcakes by Baked by Ana, Usaqu\u00e9n\" alt=\"Delicious cupcakes by Baked by Ana, Usaqu\u00e9n\" src=\"http:\/\/seecolombia.travel\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/baked-by-ana-cupcakes-bogota.jpg\" width=\"389\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cLittle by little Baked by Ana became what it is today.
