My home country is famous for how many beaches it\u00b4s home to. However, sadly, I grew up way out in the country, nowhere within sight of a real beach. Back in country Australia, where I’m from, beaches were sheets with a hose and tricks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"We<\/a>
We sold ourselves short.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Moving to Sydney later on, I must admit that I came across the odd nice beach, but, really, Colombia is a whole different kettle of fish.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In Colombia, beaches are crazy<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Tayrona.<\/a>
Tayrona. That beach cray.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

So crazy that once I found about them, I got a little excited. I just wanted to be on mad beaches. <\/strong>All those nights back home, I never had beaches; now I\u00b4m all up on that sand, loving these beaches.<\/p>\n

So, while you guys back home or in Europe or the US are sitting there in your office, stressing out about having to organise office birthday parties for people you actually kind of hate, spare a thought for those of us here in Colombia unlucky enough to be spread-eagled on the world\u00b4s most beautiful beaches<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If you\u00b4re having work problems, I feel bad for you, son: I got 99 problems, but this beach ain\u00b4t one.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Taganga's<\/a>
I got a beach in Tayrona, got a beach in Taganga…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

That renowned feminist philosopher, Ice Cube, star of such classics as Are We There Yet<\/em>,\u00a0Anaconda<\/em>,\u00a0and\u00a0XXX 2<\/em>, once memorably postulated that “a beach is a beach.<\/strong>”\u00a0<\/strong>Well, I suppose that might be true over there in LA, Professor Cube; but here in Colombia, things are a bit different. A beach\u00a0isn\u00b4t\u00a0<\/em>merely a beach. Here in Colombia, and I repeat:\u00a0beaches are crazy awesome.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>
Especially up at Cabo de La Vela in La Guajira, the best place in the world to *eat* cray on a beach.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\u00b4s hard to decide which beach to get all on top of when here in Colombia. There are so many beaches on offer.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Cartagena: BEACHES ARE CRAZY.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And, I\u00b4ll be god-damned if it\u00b4s not the case that in San Andres, BEACHES ARE CRAZY!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

San Andres is all about the beaches.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Indeed, I\u00b4d be tempted to say that in San Andres, home to waters of seven colours (OK, well, shades of blue),\u00a0BEACHES ARE TOTALLY CRAZY!<\/strong><\/p>\n

These beaches are “totes cray-cray.” It\u00b4s obvious that I\u00a8m serious.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Ah… Colombian beaches. Pristine sand; balmy, crystal-clear waters; dramatic back-drops<\/strong> so beautiful it almost hurts.<\/p>\n

\"Wonder<\/a>
Wonder why they call you beach.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Beaches are so crazy in Colombia, that you never know where you\u00b4ll run into one. You\u00b4d hardly think that you\u00b4d come across an amazing beach right in the middle of inland Boyaca<\/strong>, but, friends, this is Colombia,\u00a0<\/strong>home of the world\u00b4s craziest beaches.<\/p>\n

It appears that beaches are all over. So much so, that one can get kind of weirdly possessive. So, if you see me up in Tayrona on a beach all by myself; please be respectful.<\/p>\n

I know that I work as a travel writer, but sometimes, words fail me when it comes to Colombian beaches<\/strong>. I mean,\u00a0I\u00b4m trying to find the words to describe this shot without being disrespectful.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

But, damn girl, it\u00b4s such a sexy beach.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In fact, there are so many sexy beaches, where do I begin? Do I choose the wild beauty of Choco beaches…<\/p>\n
