Why it’s important for Colombia to have the best travel blog in Latin America. And vote now!

Hola a todos!

As a lot of you already know, we have the honour to have been chosen as the best travel blog in Colombia, and now we’re competing against 11 other countries.  We want to tell the world that Colombia is already a top-level tourism destination in Latin America and FITUR is the perfect platform to tell this to the world, since it’s one of the Tourism conventions with the furthest reach in the world. Before continuing I want to ask you, if you haven’t already, to vote for us using the following link. Voting closes Monday morning (10th December) and we’re still far from the leaders.

Vote for Colombia here:

And now I’ll tell you why I think it’s important to vote and, moreover, to vote quickly. I think there are 5 very simple and fundamental reasons.

5) Nobody expects Colombia to win

This is perhaps the least important of the reasons, but it gives us a huge incentive to compete. Countries such as the Dominican Republic, Peru and Argentina have a developed and popular tourism tradition, as well as a high level of digital  participation. Until yesterday they would have beaten us by hundreds of votes. Some are giving away computers and other things to get votes, but we don’t think Colombia needs prizes. Lets show the world that Colombia has already placed itself in the realms of the great tourism destinations of Latin America.

4) This country needs this recognition more than any other.

Until today the leading countries have been, for decades, symbols of tourism in South America. In all the years we’ve been working for the travel industry in Colombia we’ve known that this country has the variety and potential to be the next leader in the region, but lamentably we’ve been on show to the world for less time than our neighbouring countries. Colombia needs to reinforce its image as a travel destination and this recognition would help us a huge amount.

3)  We want to share with the whole world our love of Colombia

With the exception of Marcela, who’s Colombian, our blog is made up of a group of foreigners than love Colombia, like me. Its people, its destinations, its culture, its mystery, its history… if we win we would be speaking to our peers not just form our blog, but from…

2)  An unbeatable showcase for Colombia

To accept the prize at FITUR as the official presence of Colombia is the best way to tel the international press, the tourism industry and the general public that Colombia is here to stay. The industry is flourishing and we’re using new tools such as blogs for promotion. We’re already first, and we’re already the best.

1) Colombia deserves it.

All of Colombia: the state institutions, the tourism companies, the bloggers, the readers of this blog, the Colombians that, every day, force the country forward… EVERYONE makes a huge effort day to day to contribute to the good name of this country. After years of suffering a bad image and stereotype, we deserbe to show the world that the good isn’t just much, much more, but that these are some of the nicest, dearest and friendliest people in the world. For that reason I stayed here, for that our blog is extremely proud to represent this country, and for that we want YOUR vote to give us the opportunity to tell all this to the world, loud and clear.

Mil gracias and we hope we can count on your vote as soon as possible!
