When the six-year-old in front of you goes on one of the biggest ziplines in South America, without so much as batting an eyelid, you know you have to hold it together. I wanted so badly to squeal, I was shaking, but, if a six-year-old can do it, I can too right?
I was in Tobia with Yambaló Aventura. Tobia is a sleepy town where it seems that people keep themselves busy by drinking beer and sitting out on the street watching time pass. Pretty great really. But for visitors to Tobia, there are adventure activities to keep your heart rate up and you’re stomach churning – if that’s what you’re into.
Word on the street is that Tobia has the highest zipline in all of South America and it’s worth the two and a half hours by car from Bogotá to get to it. It’s more than 200 metres high and 1200 metres long which is broke up into two sections. You pass from one mountain to another and if you’re brave enough to keep your eyes open, the view is unbelievable with the river running below.
Once that gets your adrenaline pumping you’ll be ready for some canyoning, a hike along the riverbed, white water rafting, perhaps some motocross, kayaking, paintball and then a well-deserved dip in the pool.
Adventure travel is getting big in Colombia and people are visiting from all over the world to get a taste of the heart-pumping activities this country has to offer.
Be sure to visit Tobia now while it is still relatively unknown. Visit Los Tobianos for more information and get ready for some high adrenaline adventure, warm weather and perhaps a cold beer waiting for you at the end of it all.
