The London Olympics, the Euro 2012 final, Wimbeldon, World Cup Qualifiers, Copa Libertadores, La Liga, the English Premier League and probably some US sports (not my area of expertise)… Since we`re smack bang in the middle of sporting season, we at the Colombia Travel Blog thought it would be prudent to bring you a list of the best places to enjoy the big events.
Monkey House
The Monkey House (Cr 9 # 70) is, for all intents and purposes, a British pub. Curry, large pints, steak and ale pie and English language commentary all come together to make it a great place for foreigners to enjoy sporting events.
TGI Fridays
Yup, in Bogota they have that famous chain of restaurants. Sure, it might be pricey, but there is no place better to ejnoy the best of US sports. Big screens, US atmosphere… If you’re missing hole this might just be the place for you. You’ll find TGI Fridays throughout the city, but the one in Parque 93 is probably the best.
Andino
If 3D sports are your bag then head to Andino (Carrera 11 # 82-71). Inside the huge mall there’s a cinema that shows the biggest sporting events in 3D. Obviously the atmosphere won’t be quite the same since you’re sat in a cinema, but an experience nonetheless.
Irish Pub
The pick for most expats in Bogota is the Irish Pub in La T. Big screens (and a lot of them) alongside delicious beer brewed right here in Bogota – what more can you ask? Fish and chips you say? They’ve got them. Definitely the pick of the bunch if you’re looking to find fellow foreigners to cheer your team on with.
A Tienda
There’s no experience more authentically Colombian (when watching sports) than heading to a tienda with a fuzzy reception, cheap beers and a bunch of Colombians drinking aguardiente. You’ll find tiendas all over the city, so just ask for the nearest that shows sports.
