The Colombian Caribbean Beach Tour

If you’re looking for pristine, tropical beaches and delicious Caribbean cuisine then this is the tour for you. Starting out in Colombia’s capital, Bogota, you’ll travel to the beautiful beaches of Tolu, where you can visit the idyllic islands of San Bernardo. Tolu is an increasingly popular destination for tourists and locals and our tour offers the opportunity to go diving as well as exploring the virtually unknown Caimanera Mangrove. From Tolu you will visit the enchanting city of Cartagena, whose narrow, cobbled streets recall the colonial days. From Cartagena there’s easy access to Tayrona National Park, where you can relax on one of its many pristine beaches before heading to Santa Marta, where you’ll find your own Carribbean paradise.

Day 2. Tolu - San Bernardo Islands

Free day to enjoy an optional trip to San Bernardo islands. The islands of San Bernardo are a group of 8 islands located in the Morrosquillo Golf. This is a perfect opportunity to spend a day diving in the crystal-clear waters of the Colombian Caribbean or to enjoy a fresh lobster while basking in the sun on a pristine white beach.

Day 3. Tolu

After breakfast, we’ll take a short tour to the Caimanera Mangrove, a beautiful natural reserve where fresh waters meet the ocean creating a unique ecosystem with an amazing array of crabs and shellfish. More than 1400 hectares of mangrove stand just off the water, creating a maze of tunnels that lead to a wide-open natural pool of fresh water. In the centre of the hidden lake there is a floating house, from where you can go for a swim and enjoy seafish freshly prepared by your boat captain.

Day 4. Tolu - Cartagena

After breakfast you´ll head to Cartagena by land, giving you a unique insight into the northern countryside of Colombia (about 4 hours).

Day 5. Cartagena. City Tour

Our Cartagena City Tour will take approximately four hours. We begin the tour with a visit to Cerro de la Popa, a cloister built on top of a hill that commands a view of the entire city. Following this, we´ll see the oldest church in the city, San Pedro Claver. Finding ourselves in the Old City, we´ll then visit Plaza Bolivar, Bobedas and Bocagrande. The Old City retains all the charm of itscolonial days; its narrow, cobbled streets flanked by charming balconies. We finish in the famous mall, Pierino Gallo, for a spot of shopping. Your afternoon will be free to enjoy the city at your leisure.

Day 6. Cartagena - Baru Peninsula

Located on the Baru peninsula about 1 hour from Cartagena, Playa Blanca is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Caribbean coast. White its sand, turquoise water and precious coral reefs: this is the perfect place to experience the tropical Caribbean at its besst, and a great opportunity to taste the local cuisine. The tour takes you by boat to discover this paradise, worlds away from the bustling city.

Day 7. Cartagena - Santa Marta - Tayrona

After breakfast, we head to Santa Marta (about 4 hours) to take in some of what the area has to offer, before moving on to Tayrona National Park where you will spend the night.

Day 8. Tayrona National Park

Today you’ll have a guided walk through Tayrona National Park’s unforgettable beaches and unmissable sites. Tayrona National Park is where the Colombian jungle meets the Caribbean, and is a great place for nature-lovers and beach bums alike. Important archaeological sites and beaches we’ll see include: Calabazo, Pueblito, Cape San Juan, La Piscina (natural swimming pool), Arrecifes and Cañaveral.

Day 9. Tayrona - Neguaje - Playa Cristal
