Coffee Triangle Short Breaks

Colombia is famous for many things but one of its main exports and main sources of wealth has always been its coffee. Indeed, Colombia is known around the world for the quality of the beans it produces and exports. Short breaks to the Coffee Triangle will give you an insight not only into Colombia’s history as you see where the industry was born, but also into the Colombia of today, as you visit the communities and factories that still thrive on Colombia’s well-deserved reputation as one of the finest coffee producers in the world. The Coffee Triangle is also home to some of Colombia’s most dramatic scenery and on our short break you’ll be taken to the breathtaking Cocora Valley, a landscape completely unique to Colombia.

Itinerary

Day 1. Finca – Cocora Valley

The expedition begins with the unique and charming town of Salento before a trip to the other-worldly Cocora Valley. You will get to know the region’s colonial and historic past and have the opportunity to wander amongst the unique landscapes, observing the clear water of the Quindio River and the unique and awe-inspiring wax palm, Colombia’s national tree.

Salento, and the Coffee Triangle in general, has one of the richest coffee cultures and most scenic coffee crops. It has preserved its colonial architecture and the customs of the local people. Furthermore, it’s an ideal site for hiking or horseback rides followed by a meal of exquisite trout, the prized local dish. Today’s lunch is not included but our guide will be more than happy to take you to a traditional local restaurant. Meals: B.

Day 2. Finca. Coffee Experience and Tasting

The Cultural Coffee Experience tour gives a unique insight into the real lives of the coffee workers. This tour allows us to learn the fantastic and mystical history of the coffee growing culture and the colonization of Antioquia.  From the coffee crops we will continue to the Joyful Harvest, where you can wear traditional outfits and harvest, pulp, dry, roast and ground your own coffee as the locals have done since colonial times. Then, after a great day at work you can sit down and enjoy a fantastic cup of the best Colombian Coffee, specially processed and made by you, for you! Meals: B.

Day 3. Finca - Armenia

At the chosen time you will be transferred to the airport. All good things must come to an end, after all. Of course, if 3 days just isn´t enough time in Colombia, our tours are 100% customizable and we´d be happy to extend your stay with us. Just ask for more details. Meals: B.
