Cartagena Short Breaks

Cartagena is simply the jewel in Colombia’s Caribbean crown. Our Cartagena tours offer you the perfect short break in one of the continent’s most fascinating cities. No Colombia tour would be complete without a vacation in Cartagena.

Recently Cartagena has established itself as the place to see and be seen in South America. Boasting a fascinating history and a dizzying array of historical monuments and buildings, Cartagena has long kept cultural buffs satisfied for days on end, but now it’s also a hot spot for dining, fashion and clubbing as the city belies its looks by being one of the most happening places on the continent. But what looks! Cartagena is a magical, enchanting city made of colors to match the palette of any artist. Large, wooden balconies adorned with beautiful flora loom over the city’s streets, giving it the feel of a genuine colonial city; albeit one that’s been pulled kicking and screaming into the hip 21st Century. Our Cartagena short breaks will show you everything the city has to offer and give you the opportunity to explore the beautiful Caribbean Islands found nearby.

Itinerary

Option 1

Day 1. Cartagena. City Tour

We will spend approximately four hours visiting the city, including the modern residential neighborhood of Bocagrande and, later, the famous Walled City. The Old Walled City maintains all the charm of the colonial days, with its narrow, cobbled streets flanked by charming balconies and heavy, characteristic doors. Our entry is through the Clock Gate, the main entrance to the old town. We visit the church of San Pedro Claver, the oldest church in the city before seeing the Castle of San Felipe – an imposing stone structure regarded as the masterpiece of the Spanish military engineering in the Americas. Finally, the Convent of La Popa is a cloister built on top of a hill that dominates the entire city.

Day 2. Cartagena- San Pedro de Majagua

Located only 1 hour from Cartagena, Majagua is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, washed by the turquoise-colored water with coral reefs. This is the perfect place to enjoy the beach and tropical Caribbean climate, and a great opportunity to taste the local cuisine, mostly consisting of fish and coconut rice. The tour takes you to discover this paradise, far from the bustling city. The journey is by boat from Cartagena, crossing the bay and docking at the coast of San Pedro de Majagua. Accommodation: Arsenal Hotel, Meals: B.
